I've been wanting a new lock set for my vert for...well...as long as I've had it. Reason is I have a key that opens my drivers door and same key works my ignition, none of my keys will open my passenger door (think someone tried to jimmy the lock at some point), I have another key that locks my glove box and another for my trunk . Three keys for a two door car . I came across a guy that is from Australia but is in Japan that sells JDM parts. Sent him an email to just see if he could get me a s13 Silvia lock set. He found some used ones on Yahoo auctions Japan but were not the full set so he decided to contact Nissan to see if they had one. They DID have one...just one left and didn't plan on getting more in stock. So he got them and I have a new s13 Silvia lock set on the way from Japan as we speak. Here are a few pics he sent me:

Yes they were high but I wanted them bad. I had looked up a new USDM lock set and I paid about $100 more for the Silvia set...worth it to me. I'll post more when they arrive.

If you don't mind disclosing the price, I'd like to know...

I need to replace the set on my vert as well as it's a cobbled together. I'd be happy with USDM stuff though - I just want factory keys...

Dex, you can buy factory uncut keys from Nissan. I paid ~$35 for mine, and they cut it for me. It doesn't say '240SX' or anything like that on it, it's just a standard Nissan key.

However, I would KILL to have a set of keys that were factory and said 'Silvia' on them like that. Even if they were cut, I'd pull all my lock cylinders and have them rekeyed just to be that pimp

Congrat on finding such a rare item. I also have this key(just the key) for my car. Clear plastic that covers silvia logo is not strong enough, so it can get scratched easily. I wish you get the square trunk lock.

Cut some clear plastic sticky stuff to fit and keep that logo scratch free. You know the kind of stuff that comes on every new plastic lcd screen? It might look tacky but will save them for a little while.

Great lock set by the way.

Thanks...couldn't believe I found one. And the guy I bought it from shipped it in only 3-4 days from Japan. The trunk lock is the oval one but it's brand new and looks great. I have the square type on my car now and like it a little better but will go with the new one for the time being. Soon as I install them I'll get some pics up. Will be nice to have a full set of working locks with just one key...and a valet key as well.

You can easily pull the lock cylinders out of the silvia trunk locks. You can swap the cylinder over to your square lock cover and sell the oval one on ebay for like $60 bucks

Speaking of car keys, anyone tried this? I think it's pretty neat.

whoa nice! i need to get a hold of a set like that for my rhd ! the only thing is your not going to be able to use that igntion cyl because that cyl is a right hand drive ignition cyl and its angled diffrent and also if your car is still auto it doesnt have all the lock switchs for the trans control on it ( look at my never be the same rhd post i have pics of the rhd compared to the lhd) but an easy fix to that bring the silvia key along with the igniton cyl out of yor car and have them key the cyl to match the key i did that so my "newish" rhd cyl matched my orignal keys it only cost me like 40$ RHD VS LHD IGNITON CYL THE BOTTOM HALF (ALSO TO GET YOURS OUT THERE IS TAMPER PROOF BOLTS U NEED TO DRILL OUT AND JUST USE REGULAR NUT AND BOLT TO PUT TOGETHER )

It's already cut though. I should have bought several of them. I think I paid for mine $30 back in year 2000.
