Hi there ,
What is my best option for getting new leather on my 1985 300zx steering wheel.
The car is in great original and unrestored shape but the leather on the steering wheel is quite worn.
Any recommendations for how to proceed in a way that keeps the stock condition?
I’ve never restored a car.

Thanks

Find a car upholstery shop near you and ask if they do steering wheels. A lot of places don't because it's a pain.

Alternatively, you could try to find a matching steering wheel online which is in better condition than yours- it could be cheaper than having it reupholstered.

I was in the same boat as you and decided to just get an aftermarket steering wheel (Momo Monte Carlo). I even found a rather cheap NISMO horn button ($45) to give my Z sporting credentials it didn't deserve.

Use a wheelskin

I installed one of these MANY years ago, actually had a shop do it properly. That was more than 20 years ago and it has help up very well, better quality than stock
