Hey, I have been talking to some local kit designers and I have a kit that will probably be built for the nissan 240 sx, and I was wondering you guys think of it. The company is called Insomniac Customs and they just got a 240 to work on. These pics are rendered, but hopefully you get the idea.

personally i like kits that give a clean refined look. Also something that is somewhat close to stock, not extravagant

wtf is the rear bumper? Does that like suck it down to the road? The front bumper...looks like it eats small children. If I ran over a todler or something, he'd be plastered all over my intercooler, he'd probably bend the fins and might even have enough force to bend the tubes or rip the mounting brackets up, shoving my IC into my radiator and causing me all kinds of trouble. That kinda crap is just unacceptable!

DEPENDING ON PRICE I'D BUY IT...... BUT I DON'T REALLY PLAN ON DOING MANY BODY MODS.

What would this kit be made out of?

The only thing I don't like is the rear diffuser. Looks too much like an NSX or too JGTC. The rest is cool.

it loos like someone has been playing alot of need for speed underground to me. The fronts ok, i wouldn't buy it, but thats my taste. The rear is way to much though.

it looks like you should have bought a mustang.

EDIT: Upon reading my own post, that sounds like way more of a flame than i ment it to be. I just ment that the front bumper is very mustang inspired.

not digging the front(pig nose), and it looks like it has an "under bite"

The front kinda looks similar to that Mach 3 mustang style. The rear is kinda tight wouldnt mind buying that as long as the exhaust had clearance in one of the holes. The front I would reccomend getting rid of the holes for the nose (the two vents inbetween the headlights) and focus on either making it look structured and scooped or if you like the roundness of the vehicle then get closer to a stock look. Nothing roundish on a 240 front looks good I think. Save the factory bumper. for 91-94 model.

Since its still just in software, its havent finalized it, but I will be taking into account all the comments I get when I redesign it. As for materials, fiberglass at first, and if it sells, then they said they'd be trying out some plastics.

HOW MUCH ARE YOU LOOKING AT FOR FIBERGLASS? I'D BUY IT IF IT WILL SAVE WEIGHT...... I'M ACTUALLY LOOKING AT BUYING REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE STOCKER ONES.

Not positive on the exact price since we havent even built the first one yet. But we are guessing around the $800 - 900 Canadian mark

On a side note, what program are you using to render? I f i had to take a guess it would be Lightwave.. but 3dsmax is so much more popular these days. I use to do a bit with lightwave..

3DSM6, my first go at modeling actually. Also looking for a copy of Brazil 1.2.

Until now, all my ideas have been on napkins and paper.

Just a thought, you are going to have major ground clearence problems with the kit that low. Plus it makes the car look too tall in my opinion.

yeah if u just make all the parts have a lil more clearance, and maybe somethin w/ that bumper to make it "solid"...refer to the vertex s14 kit...

Here's an update with the rest of the cat in the pic, gives a better idea of how it will look, also doesnt look quite so low now.

Not bad. Looks better now that you got rid of those 2 vents. I still think that the bumper is too round IMO.

it looks ok, but its not my style. I like a car to be a little edgier. It is well designed though.

I think its awsome except for the rear bumper. Bumpers like that look good in design but always turn out like crap in my opinion. I see tons of riced out cars with rear bumpers like that, its just not attractive, doesnt serve any aerodynamic purpose, and is bad for ground clearence.

I had some reserves about the rear bumper, but alot of the shop's customers are liking the design, and I have certain guidelines that I need to follow as well, but as much input as possible would be great. Later designs that may come up can be more closely matched to what this 'crowd' would like.

I kinda dig the porsche front...but the rear is well....you know..(not many ppl carry true duals in our car either)

I think the 240 crowd looks for a more flush design...different but that flows well with the lines and is inconspicuous. Most like functionality over looks. In other words...we tend to be very different from the "popular" body kits that most hondas/cavaliers/etc.. are sporting. A good tip...if it looks like one similar to the fast and the furious...(we'll probably don't like it)

Here's a crazy kit for ya...it had years of preparation put into it, wind tunnel testing etc. It was designed to fit perfectly with the car and have no fitment issues, it's about as lightweight as body work can get...in short, it's perfect:

Oh, and I forgot to mention that it does a good job of ducting air to the intercooler while keeping adequate clearance from the ground.

the front looks like a NISMO style and the back looks like a kit off an integra. if you ever played tokyo extreme racer 0 look at the integra kits and theres a bumper exactly like that. to me a lil on the ricey side. IMHO
