Hi all, this is my first post in this forum which I would like to become more active in seeing as how I really have a liking for cars. A little back story before I get to the point. I live in NY, and just got my senior license, which here you have to be 17 after finishing drivers ed. I'm finally done with all that and out on my own driving where I wan when I want, under certain circumstances parent wise and such. The reason I'm posting is that I want to become more affiliated with my car and others and to try to learn as much as I can about them as I can. Where can I/should I start, and what can I get to help?

Thx, GB

Seeing how it's a pretty old car, I want to make it last as long as I can before I buy a new one. Maybe make it run as smooth as possible...? Not really sure yet.

Welcome!!!

The engine is virtually bullet proof if taken care of. My 96 I30 made it to 277k miles before I sold it and it was still running.

The search function is your friend. Make sure you search through the archived content too, because the guys have been talking about 4th gens (your generation of maxima) for quite a few years.

Hey you're out there on Long Island actually not far from good ole Hell Jersey. I like to read manuals, you can go on Ebay and find a factory manual for your car on CD for a really reasonable price.. you can also get a Haynes or Chilton's manual which will give you lots of basic information. And not to give out driving advice--but-- never trust somebody else's turn signal until you're sure they're slowing down, especially if they're turning right onto the street you're coming out of. And be careful of your blind spots on your rearview mirrors....
