I've recently purchased an 89 240 se and had to put a new engine in it. Being as broke as i am, I just bought another ka24e for the time being. My cousin and I finally got the engine put in and went to start it, the engine was turning, but wouldn't start. So, we checked the coil, of course, it was bad. The next morning, i went and bought a new ignition coil. Put it on, solved that problem, but still wouldn't start. Sprayed some ether(however you spell it) into the intake manifold, started for a sec. At that point, we started to make sure it had fuel going to it. Pulled off both hoses going to injectors, both dry. We put our air compressor hose in the gas tank and blew air through it, but gas only came out of one of the hoses. We were thinking that it's the fuel pump, but were to lazy to drop the tank. Can anyone help out with this? We were wanting to check the fuel relay, but we're unsure where to find it. Any help would be great!!!

under the hatch carpet you can get to the fuel pump. first, check the fuses udner the hood, then go and check the pump itself. If you smell gas on the injectors after you crank it, then ur getting fuel

it should not, but I'm unsure..

to see if you're getting fuel to the rail, you could've just disconnected the line into the rail from the filter, disconnect coil and hook up an appropriate hose to the filter's outlet (with the other end of the hose into a bucket) and crank the engine..

oh, and you might want to check for ruptured fuel line into the filter..that is if you crank the engine and smell fuel in the engine bay..

and 1 last thing... when you turn the key to "ON", do you hear a whine from the fuel pump?

No I have a coupe, just pull up the carpet in the trunk. On the right side is a cover with an arrow pointing towards the front, that cover covers up the plug to the fuel pump. Check for continuity at the plug, but the easiest thing is to do what the last guy said. Just have a friend stand at the back of the car with the trunk open and the carpet pulled back and then you turn the key to the on position. Hopefully you'll hear a hum, that means the pump is on. Maybe you filter is clogged, but definately try everything the last guy said.d

Thanks guys, I'll check it out tomorrow. We did pull the fuel hoses off of the fuel rail, but they were dry. Also, we took off the fuel filter, and poured gas through it, that worked fine. We tried to listen for the fuel pump, but didn't hear it, so i'll check to see if i'm getting any power to it at all. Again, thanks for the help, i'll keep everyone posted as to the problem.

Another question.... there are 2 fuel lines going to the fuel rail, how do they line up?

Does the one from the fuel filter belong on top, or on bottom?

A general rule of thumb is that the fuel return line hooks up at the end of the fuel pressure regulator. so technically the bottom one is from fuel filter to *in* of fuel rail and then other return line *out* of the fuel pressure (bottom) I don't have a ka24e in front of me, but I think it's like that :) Just check to make sure fuel return line is hooked to the end of the fuel pressure regulator :P
