im in the process of pulling the engine out to rebuild it now i gotta find a good rebuild kit that has everything minus pistons+rods

and 1 with pistons and rods

ams has a kit but its pricey and those pistons look like low comp pistons

i wanna bump the compression up and run low boost for shi*s n giggles then imma take it off bcuz imma ship it 2 the islands

so any info will help on setups n such

In my opinion: hi-comp and boost in a KA is an either or proposition.

I think Arias makes a 10.7 and Wiseco makes a 10.5, both forged.

Another option is running cast KA24E pistons. '89 KA24E 240SX pistons (9.1) in a KA24DE will bump its compression to 11.7. '90 KA24E 240SX pistons (8.6) in a KA24DE will bump its compression to 11.1.

OR

Run a low boost setup on the stock cast 9.5 pistons, or a high boost setup on forged 9.1 or lower pistons.

But in the end, it's your car so do what you want with it.

i have a 1989 sohc ka24e

i just found out that the mechanic i got it from already rebuilt it ecept for the head so im going to remove the head only get it machined or find a replacement head and slap it on with a better head gasket so i can run low boost safely, unless i find another engine then i will just swap it out
