We picked up my wife's new JX yesterday. 10 Yards after we left the dealership and stopped at a stop sign, the vehicle wouldn't move.

Looked like tranny fluid, no warning light. No nothing...Shouldn't there be some light or warning?

Left the car at the stop sign at 2PM on Christmas Eve. We will not forget that...

What would you do? Would you take the car back? Would you ask for extended warranty, discount, new car?

That is pretty disturbing. I'm guessing it was revving up and not moving forward or anything? I'm guessing your foot wasn't on the brake at all, right? Even the slightest bit I think disables the drivetrain (so you'll never get that run-away-toyota stuck throttle syndrome thing).

DEFINITELY bring it back to the dealership, ask for an extended warranty.

I left it at the stop sign, and told the dealer to get it.

That's pretty awesome. Have they contacted you back about it yet? I'd also demand a loaner.

Hopefully the dealership wont give you any lip. If they do, call 1-800-NISSAN1 and raise hell.

...or, post up here.

We have a LOT of Corporate staff browsing the boards, and a good relationship with the company.

This is a good opportunity for them to "get it right".

I've often said it's not that a mistake is made. Mistakes happen. It's how they're handled that define a company in my eyes. I hope your dealer doesn't give Nissan a bad name.

My first choice was a new vehicle. They had no more in stock loaded White/ Java JXs in state, and they did not want to pay for shipping. They had one coming in next month, but could not guarantee the finance rebate would still be in effect.

They offered me two choices:

Infiniti Premium Maintenance contract - 24 month/ 36,000 miles - zero cost
Infiniti Premium Maintenance contract - 36 month/ 45,000 miles - $299

I picked the $299 plan. Figured the transmission warranty is 6-year/70,000-mile Powertrain coverage, so I should be OK.

Thoughts....

What was the diagnosis on the CVT? Can they guarantee no long term reliability issues would have occurred as a result of the failure? I'd try to get a longer trans warranty.

Loose hose clamp from the factory - it only went about 1/4 mile before it stopped.

No Way! Well at leas it was something simple. Any comments from them on what happens to a CVT when it runs out of trans fluid?

Wow very interesting. I guess it's that 1 in a million chance.

This is TOTALLY my feeling on the issue. We DO NOT live in perfect world, mistakes will happen. The cool thing is we found out why this happened, and it is not a big deal. I would be totally thrilled with the free (or super cheap) maintenance plan you got out of the deal. To go with it, for the rest of your life you will have this crazy story of a brand new vehicle you purchased on Christmas Eve!

On top of it, you will not get your a** MEGA kissed when you go to your dealer for service (I say MEGA, because they pamper us to begin with). I assume you got a loaner car, so once you get your new one (if you have not already), you will get to enjoy how awesome your JX35 is!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND WELCOME TO NICOclub! :bigthumb:

The vehicle was fixed, and I picked it up yesterday. The salesman was wonderful, however the sales manger, who I dealt with during all negotiations, was very transaction oriented. Not sure he had much flexibility. In my opinion they did not bend over backwards at all:

1- No loaner car.
2- No offer to transport a new car from out of state. "too much money"
3- No offer to pick my wife up at our home to go get the car after the repair (40 min. each way)
4- Car was still not ready when we arrived the 2nd time. (Clear bra stuff and mats - which they thought was done)
5- I really didn't want the service contract, I wanted a good car.
6- They offered me the 24month, 30,000 mile maintenance contract for free as compensation for the defect, or the 36 month, 45,000 mile maintenance contract for $300 extra, which I agreed to. "deal was too skinny"

You get to know folks when things don't go according to plan. Nice people, however, I do not think they have a customer centric focus.

Sounds like dealership issues. I cannot believe they did not have a loaner car. My dealer ALWAYS has a loaner car for me, even if I just want an oil change. On top of that, they said if it still an inconvenience, they will pick my car up and drop off a loaner for me at my work.

I can understand not getting another vehicle from another dealer, at this point it is best for them to fix the vehicle that is already technically sold, so I agree with that, but they should certainly pick up your wife and give you a loaner. I wonder how the dealerships determine how many loaner cars to have. Last time I got a loaner, it was at like 10:30 in the morning, and they still had 5 loaner cars sitting there.

My local dealer is like that as well. For little stuff, they have a shuttle service where they take you to wherever after you drop the car off. For big styff, they keep at least a half dozen used cars on the lot for use if they can't get your car back to you.
