Oil change & Air Filter Change prior to leaving on trip at 27867 milesPennzoil 5w-30, tire pressure 35psi when cold.Oil change today at 31597 milesTotal miles traveled 3730 miles . Added 1/2 qt twice during trip. Total oil added was one quart. This was the best oil consumption since new as this engine used one quart per 1000 miles when new.Best gas mileage using regular 87 octane between South Carolina & Florida was 28.83 MPG and 27.30 between North Carolina and New Jersey. With the fuel gauge resting on the first tiny mark above empty, the vehicle took 16.06 gallons after traveling 427 miles. This vehicle can make 500 miles on a tank in highway driving although I get nervous when the gauge gets that low in unfamilar territory. I never went over 78 MPG. The speed limit south of Va is 70 MPH. There are lots of police for those going 10 MPG over the limit.

Thanks for the data! I have an '06 6MT sedan...just passed 4,000 miles so I was wondering if the MPG would get better and what the oil consumption could look like. That damn dipstick makes it difficult...anyway, thanks again!

You are correct sir. Not only does the dip stick suck, but when you add oil it flows into the dipstick tube making obtaining an accurate reading difficult. That was why I added a 1/2 qt twice. I did not feel like waiting 10 or 15 minutes for the oil to clear off the entire dipstick. Oh well despite this I stll love my G35. What many may not realize is the L Mark on the dipstick is two quarts low. I check my oil weekly & daily in the early morning when on a long trip. I think it just takes a long time for rings to seat properly in the G35 engine. Now with over 30k miles I am getting the best performance oil & gas consumption wise using conventional oil and regular 87 octane gas.One day I will try to get 500 miles on one tank of gas.I'm a happy camper.

Good info Telcoman. My G gets about 20 mpg with a combo of HW and intown. You would thank that with the cobra in the driveway with over 300 HP I would be able to keep my foot out of the G....Well, I can't!!.

One of these days I might let go of the past (first car was a stang) and sell the cobra and one of the G's and get a coupe....

Wife's G gets about 17 or 18 mpg mainly all in town driving. Daughter's G gets about 24 mpg in town.

Oh, daughter's BF has a 200sxSon's GF has an I30
