I want to keep this as short and simple as possible.
I recently bought a 97' j30 from the auction as a parts car. It had a bad transmission and knock sensor.
Iv'e replaced the transmission from a 96' and replaced the knock sensor as well.
Did Infiniti build the entire car around the knock sensor??
Oh, and it's missing the rear part of the exhaust.
Now that it's almost road ready, I've noticed a very annoying problem. I'm pretty sure it's the pnp switch. It's not the rev sensor or the tps sensor, they work fine!
symptom are:
no reverse lights
no cruise control
car wont shift out of first until it hit 3k OR it will shift properly at 2400rpm to second then jump back up to 3k.
majority of the time the all shifts happen at 2k.
And lastly the O/d engaging and disengaging. cruising at any speed there's a slight jump of 200rpm.
It's not the transmission itself. Works great.
I'm pretty sure this is an easy 15 min fix. either it's the connection of the pnp or replacement. Any help on this and replacing the switch would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
