Hey I'm a new owner of a 94 infiniti J30 and I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the car. I bought it for 1350 and i'm wondering if it really was a good investment. Could someone please explain to me how? and Anything else you know about the car? My boyfriend owns a 240sx and he said the car is nice and with a little work could be an awsome car. Please help me understand how?

there are 220k miles on it. the bushings on the strut rods are bad so were having to replace that. I'm sure there is a leak with the sunroof because there is rubber sealant on one part of it. I was wondering is it just the seal you have to replace or do you have to replace the whole glass? I want to slowly make this car my own and fix it up myself. It's dark green with light colored interior. the leather is cracked because someone didn't take care of it. My boyfriend wants the motor and trans for his 240 but I told him not now after seeing how much potential this car may actually have. Thank you for the welcome, now if I can only help my car know that it's welcome and loved.

Glass ??? :)
First thing to check are the drain tubes on the front corner on both sides.
Leaves and such tend to clog those up. I have to ream mine out with weed whacker line once a year because of all the pecan tree's around here.
Do you have any record of the Timing belt being changed ?? It should have been changed twice at 220 K.
Not to scare you but this is a "Interference" engine which means if the timing gets way off the pistons will hit the valves.
In layman's term's the Motor will be TOAST if the timing belt snaps.

FYI I have the same color scheme as you. :dblthumb:

Open the sunroof and on the front right and left corners there's a drain hole.
You may need to clear out some debris before you can see them.

Did you try to help it slide back ??
Sounds like the rails might be gummy or the Clutch needs to be adjusted.
The motor and clutch are above the controls.

You'll need either weed wacker line or a bottle of compressed air to clean out the drain tubes. Be gentle. The venturis are brittle with age.

If you look in either the glove compartment or the little container on the side of the trunk, there should be a crank that kind of looks like an IKEA key. If you pop off the the sunroof control, you can stick it in the round slot and rollback the roof manually.

You mentioned you have a glass sunroof. J's didn't come with a glass sunroof from the factory. It was cut out off the body and solid.

Duh, I was thinking today when I said it that it doesn't have glass. No where in there is there glass. lol Sorry been a heck of a week. Then today someone backed into my car and now the second door on the driver side won't open. YAY! another thing i'll have to fix on my car. The car is in my dads name and he's already said he's using some for the bushings but he's gonna use the rest for his vacation. :/ Whatever! I ran it out of gas today and pulled into a neighborhood and an older guy backed into it because he didn't see my car. hmmmm time to go take your driving test again. he was sweet though. Then the speakers started cutting in and out. Someone did a crappy job of installing the aftermarket CD player even though the orriginal was better. Everything is broke or lose in the center console and how do you keep from the floor molding because theres water down there? Someone told me leave the windows cracked so it can evaperate? I need a hole new center consol, new radio, the speakers fixed, the leather seat reapolstered(not spelled right), bushings, sunroof fixed, dents pulled out, new paint job, new regulators for the D;RD;P;and RP windows new B columns and probably a new headliner, rear view mirror, the pull down mirror, clock, compressor for the AC. . . . . . Yeah, thats already a couple of thousands of dollors already? It's gonna be a long time before my car is even comfortable to ride in. HUHhhhhh.. . . . . . .Anyone wanna donate parts? lol Just wishfull thinking. Seriously though if anyone does, let me know. I could seriously help because the chances of me getting any help from my parents is slim. And I have no clue on how to find the parts. Please help me fix my car. :( lol

OMG, I jt realized you have the J30T. Do you know if I can add a spoiler to the back of mine and if so where from and how much? My boyfriends car has HICAS on it. Do any of the newer cars ever have that anymore? And isn't that why it's so good at drifting?

93 and 94 J30T's had Hicas.
Not sure how that affects drifting but all J's have a VLSD differential.
As in both rear wheels spin when either tire looses traction.

Thats cool with the tires and i'm located in Louisiana. Oh and My friend has a 96 j30 that she's going to sell me for under around $500. I'm like Don't sell it i'll get the money one way or another. YAY!!! i'm hooked. I have seen what these cars can be and are and I'm hooked. lol The 96 is a pearl white color and the only thing wrong with it is the a/c compressor might be going out. I'll be back and post more after I go cook. BRB
