new J30 owner!

I just bought a J30 off a friend, a '95 in great condition.

It has a few small things wrong with it, which I figure is common for the model...

The climate control panel doesn't light up at night, though the LCD works fine and dims when you turn the headlights on. Is this issue easily fixed?

The other issue is that the trip meter and odometer don't work. My friend said this happened after he replaced the fuel pump about a thousand miles ago, and figures it's a connector that was left disconnected from the repair work. Can someone point me out to an FSM or what the issue might be?

The individual bulbs on the climate control unit are easily changeable (they're little screw type bulbs that can be changed with a screwdriver).

The odometer/trip meters are known to go on J's with age. Especially in areas where there is above average warm or cold weather.
