Greetings everyone,
More blues with the big Q45 today. I was driving with no obvious issues this morning. Went to the gym, came out 2 hours later and started the car, to this LOUD tapping noise, it sounds horrible. It also sounds like I hear a pulley whining. seems like the power steering isn't working well. The car low idles and wants to almost shut off.
Here is a video on YouTube of the sound...
(Yes, I just removed the oil cap before I shot the video, to see if the noise would be louder coming out the oil fill tube.

Sounds different than rod knock. Sounds like a valve being smacked or smacking something.
Your other symptoms made me suspect the belts and pulleys. However they make a clicking/tapping sound and you lose accessories, and the video sounds too metallic.
The 2 new codes are related to the IVT aka VVT system. If codes for both banks are present, then it's possible the ECU has no idea where the intake camshaft is clocked and defaulted to a timing value that causes this valvetrain noise... Or chatter on a chain tensioner.
If you can use a stethoscope to isolate either bank 1 or 2, that could help.
As explained in the other thread, camshaft issues can occur with no codes. To me it's so easy and accessible to always try.

Thanks for the info EdBwoy, and MacGiver.
Yo EdBwoy, it DOES seem like my power steering has lost performance over the past few weeks. You were saying I need to check that sensor. Would be great if I don't have to go thru a bunch of extra work to get this resolved!
