Nice! I wanted to do that, but I'm thinking about getting some carbon fiber and wrapping it. My question though: why did you choose to paint those trim pieces in the car? A small screwdriver to the bottom and they peel right out, there are four clips if I remember correctly...

Nice If you are looking for another spot to paint - that plastic retainer at the base of the stick (the one that clamps the leather skirt down) might be another option..

edit: just noticed the red air freshener peeking out too

Nice Job man! I was thinking of doing the same thing but wanted to take off the pieces rather than painting them in their FRP (final resting place).

Doc, you said, just pop them off. how? Is this in the FSM?

To pop off the silver pieces on the door, I used a small flat head screw driver to pry the bottom away from the door panel. Once you can get your fingers behind it, carefully pull it away; there are four or five clips that hold it in place. Once you are done with it, just snap it back in place. I'll see if I can do a mini write up on it, lol...EDIT: OK, here we go...

First: Take your small screw driver to the bottom of the piece.

Then pry it away from the door panel. This will separate a small clip right were I have the screw driver.

Now grab the end of the piece with your finger tips and pull it away some more. Then continue moving up the piece, pulling out the clips. It will take some force to pull them out.

It's off!

To put it back on, snap in the topmost clip, then work your way down.

Done! Hope that helps.

Looks sweet!

(No hijack intended), but I was just at the dealership and their showcase model for the Coupe had the whole inside carbon fibered out, side panels which you painted, the accent on the gearshift and the center console, it looked pretty sick...

I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot more interior mods now that the car has been out for awhile and most people have done their exterior work already to the way they want it. I don't think there is much honestly to do on the inside, the A/C is pretty luxurious on the inside imo.

Does the silver plastic piece at the base of the stick simply pop off as well? Mine is scratched, looks like hell, and drives me nuts. I want to wrap it in carbon fiber vinyl, but don't want to start just try prying s*** off... tried searching for an answer and this 4 year old thread was as close as I could get.

Also, it's hard to get a feel for the CF colors on a computer screen - any suggestions? I don't have anything else wrapped and don't want it to standout / look awkward (silver '11 w/ red leather interior), I'm just tired of it being scratched up and this seemed like an easy/cheap fix ($6/sq ft on amazon). I'm thinking black, graphite, or silver... but hard to tell w/o having seen the CF in person.

My CF wrap came in and I got this done this morning. Super easy to do. The piece I wrapped is screwed onto the plastic below, which is only held in w pressure clips. I ordered some more (graphite) so i can do the doors as well.

The razo knob set up looks huge in that pic. Not as bad in person. Funny angle.
