Sounds like alot more of these old Q will end up in the crusher due to the combination of high fuel prices and now rediculous injector failures and their associated costs. Not sure more than a few will be willing to put 5K/yr into what are now really old, fuel inefficient vehicles- too many newer, more fuel efficient choices with way better acceleration and modern ammenities with lower running costs.Q45tech wrote:We've replace 2 more sets [8 x 2] Q injectors this week, one 92 and one 95............just at S. Looks like we may have to increase the early Q annual estimated cost to maintain to standard [at dealers] from $3,000 to $5,000 per year.
And crap build quality and short lived bearings and electronic components.qship96 wrote: too many newer, more fuel efficient choices with way better acceleration and modern ammenities with lower running costs.
I would think they'd be unhappy with less than a few years - not that Nissan cares about us old timers... Maybe they'll care if they have to start eating a lot of replacement injectors under the 12/12 warranty.Q45tech wrote:But I'm sure thay will be unhappy if the new Nissan injectors don't last 12 months.
Exactly....I dont mind paying to replace injectors ONCE, but to think they might become a ongoing periodic replacment item is where many will get off the carousel, and try another ride that doesnt break down so often....the first requirement of a "luxury" car is that it serve its owner and not become an unreliable waste of ones time and resourcesQ45tech wrote:Separates the rich old men from the boys. Those same two clients each dropped over $4,000 for injectors and other work.

But then we know for sure it was the E10 and not just old age.
Still no ethanol in Austin, but the EPA rejected the Governor's request to not comply with national mandate to subsidize midwest farmers and starve 3rd world citizens.Q451990 wrote:I have actually considered ways to store and preserve the Q in the hopes that this ethanol craze will pass at some point.

I suspect you'll get some push-back from a local dealer returning Joe's parts... hard to say though.Locknut wrote:I saw some "New" $89.00 aftermarket "purple" injectors for sale on ebay...and I'm going to order one.
