my teacher and i had a idea about cops pulling you over. instead of always pulling you over for speeding. what if a cop pulled you over when you were going the speed limit and said, good job, here is a check for $50, good job for going the speed limit. have a nice day.

Dont you think the positive renfocement would make you want to go the speed limit and not be so scared of cops.

I do understand that when you are runnign late, being pulled over for anyreason would be a pain in the ***. but still, being handed a check for like $50 would make it all better and just being told good job, thansk for obeying the law would make everyone go the speed limit more.

what do you guys think of this idea?

LOL! If I had some bills I was trying to pay, I'd drive around the police station at the speed limit.

you know...

that would be nice except for one thing... the cost..

now you will have people pissed off saying that they never get pulled over and get money and wah wah wah...

and how do you think they will get the money for all that?? lol

they have to give out enough tickets to get money as it is..

then they will start giving tickets like 10 time more than they do now to offset what they give out.

yea... so..umm.... no, I would say that is a horrible idea..

I think it would bring the Krispy Kreme stock prices down.

I work at a grocery store. We discount the krispy cremes at about 7 pm every night. I've actually never seen a police officer come in and buy them.

Last year here in NorCal, the highway patrol did pull people over for good behavior and presented them with a coupon for a free 20 lb turkey. It wasn't lights and sirens, it was a pull-beside and wave. I think they used the blues too.The po-po is just doing his job. You be nice to them, and they will be nice to you. If you get a ticket even when nice, I would be willing to bet that it was because you did indeed have a taillight out or were speeding. Lets own up to our mistakes and move on.

Guys your forgetting that if this idea ever whent through that the government way would be less pull overs. They wouldnt want to pull you over if it means they lose money. Actually if this was a law there would be an internal affairs investigation probing into why motorists doing nothing wrong are not being stopped.

When I was younger and used to ride my bike everywhere, I got pulled over one time (on my bike) and the officer gave me a coupon for a free meal at McDonalds and said thanks for wearing your helmet and riding on the right side of the road

I'm gonna call you on that one. .

Do you realize that for every dollar that you give to the (US)government, you get approximately $0.50 back. Where does all this money go? It "disappears". Some of it literally goes into space.(I consider NASA usless right now. We have not even completely explored or own world yet) Here's another example. We pay ~$3000 a year in property taxes. We don't have sewer, county water, we have never had the police or fire department here. So, can you tell me what we are getting for are $3000, besides it preventing the government from arresting us for not paying taxes.

About the topic. I say, just get rid of the speed limits. If it weren't for all us crazy american drivers, this would work. Case in point, the AutoBahn. The reason that it works(not very many deaths) is that there drivers have to meet requirements to get a drivers license. They have to be either 18 or 21 to get a license. Also, there are alot more restrictions on the AutoBahn(that actually help prevent accidents). If you follow/tailgate someone, you will be given a ticket. I you are in the left lane and someone comes up behind you and has to slow down, you will be given a ticket. You will even be given a ticket if you run out of gas on the AutoBahn.

heh. I don't know about the east coast. But the west coast the cops eating a lot of donuts is a myth.

Over here in my town all the cops are thin and fit. This one goes to a gas station to get thoughs one natrual bars. i forgot what they are called.

I have never seen a cop hit up a donut shop except for coffee and thats about it. Not a donut in site.

One episode on cops he was commenting on how he sits down a lot more being in a cop car so he brings food from home.
