So I was sitting around thinking of how to plumb my intercooler last night, and I came up with a new method. We've all seen guys use those tiny del sol radiators successfully, how about sticking a narrow intercooler beside it? I found a nice bar and plate intercooler made by shelby for dodge's 80's laser that will fill the position well:)

dimensions are 17 x 7 x 3.5 inches and the inlet/outlet are 2.25 inches. they run $50-100 off ebay

i was thinking of getting a fluidyne version of the del sol radiator, so it will be more efficient: $200 off ebay

set up like this: minimal air blockage to the radiator, and still good airflow from the front of the car! it seems like a win-win situation:)

lets say piping will run me $100, I'll spend a max of $400 to get a damn good cooling system, with short piping, and fresh cool air for both IC and radiator:D

thoughts, suggestions?

Sean

Are you removing the a/c condenser?

depends on the power you're running. At stock boost with the stock copper&brass radiator w/no mechanical or electric fan, I don't overheat unless I run it hard with out the heater on. If I've got the heater on I can do anything I want and the temp gauge won't move. Ofcourse it's 19degrees outside right now....

radiator or IC? there are better intercoolers that will also fit beside a del sol radiator:)

The core is too small for any decent airflow numbers. Maybe you could offset it with some water injection to help cool it further? That would go a long way. But as that sits, I don't see it being much more effective than the sidemount.

I don't think you really need to worry about cooling. You should be fine.

no.The CA sits upright and has plastic end tanks, the SR leans foward, is all aluminum and a little thicker and as such an upgrade for the CA IMO.

ok mr. knowitall:pface

I guess if the question is, "is the CA sidemount the same as the SR sidemount from a performance standpoint" then you are correct!:) but from a application standpoint, both work with either motor.

I would call anything better than what you have an upgrade. If all you have is a dinky plastic fisherprice intercooler than a metal Tonka one would be an upgrade.

Yea, I know. I recently upgraded to a 1G DSM sidemount after my little trouble with my SR sidemount.

the sidemount was fine. It was the 12psi that you were putting to it that was the problem!

Nah, it was the 15 psi with a spike to 17.

Today I ran 14 without a peep but turned it down to 12 to play it safe.

You can always sell it. eBay is great.
