I just bought a 2000 I30 (92K) and LOVE IT! I already have a '96 Maxima (179K) and expect great things out of my new purchase. HOWEVER, the sunroof is giving me problems and I've read on some other forums that the sunroof motor needs to be reset. I've tried holding the switch down for 10+ seconds, yada, yada, yada, but this does not fix the problem that I have - namely, that the sunroof only opens in 2" increments - it takes me 10 or 11 separate toggles to open/close the sunroof. Everything that I've read online says that I should reset the sunroof motor, but I follow the instructions that I've been given to no avail.

HOWEVER, I've only run across this board this morning and I KNOW that someone here can help me out!! I sure appreciate any response/advice anyone can give!

I have no hands on experience, but could your problem be in the switch itself? When you hit the switch, does the motor continue to run after only moving the glass two inches. Have you attempted to lube up the guides while it was back in the roof? I presume this is to open the moonroof back into the roof itself, correct? --Mike

Mike - first of all - thanks for responding. The switch works - but for only two inches at a time. The motor then waits for the switch to go on again. And, yes, this is for retracting the glass into the roof itself - what you call the "moonroof". I just bought this car on Friday, and it seems terrific if I could just get this problem figured out. Any suggestions? I could lube the guides, but this doesn't appear to be a problem - it just seems like the switch only moves the roof a couple of inches...

Does this help? I sure appreciate your (and anyone's) expertise!

I had the same problem with my 2001. I disconected the battery for a few minutes and reconnected. It was fixed and the problem never came back. If that doesn't work try this thread: zerothread/207032

I had that same problem but after i disconected the battery but it went away after I got it fully opened once. I would still try the disconect it may not resolve it but maybe after it opens once it will go away like mine did.

Well, I finally had some time to spend on disconnecting the battery (10mm bolt FTW!!) and I am THRILLED to say that the sunroof is now operating properly! Thanks to everyone who responded - my Infinity I30 is now a lean, mean driving machine!!
