Hi everyone my name is Mike and im from upstate NY.. albany to be exact. I just got a 1996 infiniti i30 4 door auto from my job. This forum seems to be full of info and good people. My car has 147 on it and is black with black leather interior. I was told by my job that it needs an idle control valve or module due to an erratic idle. Is this a common problem? Any info would be great. I'll post some pics this weekend. Also what other common problems do these cars have?.. thanx and I look forward to sharing my i30 experience with all of you!

Idle Air Control valves tend to get dirty over time if they aren't cleaned once in a while (not sure what the ideal interval might be though), so it's not uncommon to have to replace one on a car that age.

kinda like cleaning out the throttle body?.. the part seems kinda expensive so i'll give the cleaning a shot first.

There is a how to around somewhere on how to clean out the IACV. Also, check out http://www.motorvate.ca. Great info for keeping your A32 on the road. Congrats on the car BTW
