I've heard that Infiniti is replacing the I Key for new models in a couple threads on this site. I had not heard anything from Infiniti until this weekend when I received the attached letter from Infiniti. I've bought a few new cars in my life and I have to say that I am sorely disappointed in Infiniti's communication with me. To date, this is the first letter I have ever received from Infiniti regarding the purchase of my new G35... I have never received a thank you letter from the dealer, never received a "welcome" letter from Infiniti, never received a purchase survey... etc... Also... I keep getting calls from Pinnacle Infiniti (Where I purchased my G), asking me if I am still in the market to buy a new car... WTF! I've asked them to stop calling me as I already purchased a car from them... even the salesman who sold me the car has called to see if I was still interested in buying the new G???? I feel like i'm in some parallel universe where the dealer doesent even acknowledge that I purchased a brand new entry luxury vehichle from them... is this standard? When we bought my wifes new GMC Envoy, we received a bunch of stuff in the mail thanking us for purchasing the new truck and how they wanted our feedback on our experience... does Infiniti not care about this? any other experiences? Opinons?

Anyway... sorry to get off subject... if anyone else has a newer model with the key fob, you should call your local dealer to arrange replacement key fobs as the old ones tend to interfere with cell phones.

I've had great service from my Infiniti dealer.I wonder if it has something to do with you being located in a Red State?

You might be right!

We sure do love our liquor and pistols around here! Red state or not... I'm definately in cowboy/indian country!

That's interesting. For the first few scheduled maintenances I got phone calls saying that my car was due for such and such service and wondering if I wanted to schedule an appointment through the regional office (I think that's who was calling me). They stopped calling me though, probably because I told them I was storing it over the winter so that throws off their schedule in the computer. I've gotten letters reminding me when my car is due for oil changes, 6 month, and 12 month services with a follow up survey after each one. Gotten letters about recalls (headlights). I think its mainly due to the dealership wanting to see how they are doing and shows how much they care about their customers.

Its actually the cell phones that interfere with the fobs, messes up the codes or whatever.

One hears about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Here, it's two fingers on the same hand!

That said, I can see how this could come about. It is possible that you appear in several independent databases at the dealership and keeping them consistent depends on manual data entry. This is bad design, but very common. Perhaps a clerk forgot to record your purchase in the sales contact database when he/she recorded it in other databases.

If you want to mess with them, consider sending a letter to the owner that thanks them for their continued interest but that it is no longer necessary since you already bought the car from them. Cite the model and the name of your salesman.
