Greeting people,

I just installed these HID's on my 98 Q45. Both the headlamps and the fog lights are at 10K. I love the outcome. It's like day and night difference compared to the stock halogens.

Yeah, probably a lot less lumens now.

If you want to show the projection pattern, park on level ground about 30' - 40' perpendicular to a white or very light colored wall.

looks great and it isn't blinding plus not much glare!! How did you get the fogs to work without the actual headlight on?

Thanks for the responses guys.......

I didn't know how to take a picture of the pattern, thanks for the tip.

I had the installer put in a switch for the fog lights, to turn them on separately from the headlights. And I have the option of turning on/off the parking lights. BUT since I didn't get bi xenons I don't have high beams, it does the same when I put it on high beam, but I am worried about the damage that it might cause to the bulb? Can anyone shed light on that?.

Well in lamens terms...maxnix just really meant to park on flat ground about 20ft away and just shine your lights on a garage door for example. You will be able to see your cut off/beam pattern on the garage door.

Thanks for the tip for the fog lights.

thnx gammer, should we go to the car meet this thursday?

on another note,

The HID's required some relays to be installed. I tried to install them myself, but could only get the foglights on since it's plug and play. For the headlights I had someone else to install it and it seemed a moderate amount of work since he had to run negatives and installed 2 relays to light them up. He also put a positive wire to the battery. Is that normal?

Hmmm...relays just for the headlights to come on . Even though I don't have them in my car, NICO member BullitAndy installed some in his car, and I don't remember him telling me he had to install relays just for them to work.

Yep, I tried installing them on but they wouldn't turn on the normal plug and play way so he ran 2 relays for each.

The wiring was not intuitive from what I remember. Its not + and - and so required some trial and error.

however, whatever works!

I got the kit from ebay. Both shipped 200 dollars flat plus 60 installation. They are 10000K.

Yes, that is a cima grill with the original nissan emblem on it.

did you rewire your fog lights to turn on without the headlights? or were your head lights not plugged in yet... or is that just a 98Q thing?

Yeah I ran a switch to turn on my fog lights separately. In that picture the headlights are installed too.

I was under the impression you had to install special glare shields to prevent from blinding oncoming traffic when you retrofit HIDs to a standard halogen setup.

Yes, that would be the optimal thing to do, but I got them adjusted and it doesn't blind the oncoming traffic. I have yet to be high beamed.

I've been flashed twice in the months that I've had mine installed. There are bright but no blinding.

"Blinding" is more a psychological concept than lumens. I think that people are becoming accoustomed to HID's and so the concept of "blinding" is transforming as people repeatedly encounter HID headlights. This my theory-no research which makes me a bad scientist but....
