I love my Pathfinder (97)
I am debating on getting a Murano or another Pathfinder.
but husband is well versed at working on the Pathfinder,
nothing Major and with over 170,000 on her.
I just think it is time for something newer.
I have heard good and bad about the Murano,
so I thought this would be the perfect place to ask how everyone feels about there Murano.
if I don't get a Murano I would get another Pathfinder.
this has been one of the best suv's I have ever had.
I have had ford and chevy, but fell in love with the Pathfinder.
I even rolled my first one, and walked away without a scratch!!! the Pathfinder even started right up after, I could have driven it away if it weren't for the flat tires!!!any help would be appreciated, thank you,
Toni :wavey:

I have close to 70 K miles on my 06 and it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. My biggest problem has been the sun visors falling down and it seems that the manafacture does not care about this safety issue. My cd player quit working last year but the radio still works. The plugin for the cell phones charger does not work and never has.

You will have to pull the upper part of the engine apart every 100 K miles to change the plugs.

So yes the main stuff on this vehicle has been great but a few little things that will bug you.

So if you keep up with routine maint your Murano should last well over 200K miles.

Hi. assuming you are buying new - you should be fine. I think the AWD versions should be avoided because transfer case problems are frequent. The head gasket was redesigned this year so that issue is hopefully gone. with those two out of the way, The Murano is a winner.

I'd agree with this assessment, even though the early 2nd gen Mos appear to be way more problematic than even the early 1st gen mos. Hopefully the 2nd gen problems have been designed out by now. Many used ones back on the market are suspect because lots of original owners (and even renters) drove their Mos as if they were trucks - like your Pathfinder.

If you drive your Murano as the car it is designed as, the AWD system should give you many miles of trouble free performance.

We are approaching 80K miles on our 04 SE (unfortunately, a model now no longer offered by Nissan) bought new almost 6 years ago. As our trip car and my wife's daily driver, the Mo has been fantastic. Other than tires (at 61K miles), a battery (54K), front and rear wiper blades, brake pads (which I did myself for $50 at 65K), the only dealer visit for antifreeze/accessory belts (less than $200), and of course regular oil and filter changes, I have put $0 into this car.

There have been a few problems reported - notably for transfer case, CVT, CD player, broken seat frames, rattles, and loose visor troubles. But all of these have happened on only a tiny percentage of the Mos on the road out here, and many have been reported by people who bought used. Again, because of its appearance, lots of original owners treated their Mos as trucks rahter than the modified Altimas they really are.
