New here... Tried searching the forums but got nothing. NX2000 question.

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Well as said, I'm new to this forum. I registered a while back as I planned to buy a Sentra (should've back then), but sided with Toyota. Don't worry, I've wised up.

Basically, I was talking to a mechanic up here about cars and bs, and his girl popped in and told me to buy a car in the back of the shop. And there it was, the '92 NX2000, Manual, cosmetically nicer than most 5 yr old cars (save for the driver seat), recently rebuilt starter, new exhaust (cat back it looked like), tune up, the works. 151k miles, 2 grand.

Now I looked all over for info on this car and noticed I couldn't find ANYTHING bad posted on reliability or performance. So my question is this: at 151k after checking the typical stuff (radiator, alternator, tires brakes, CV's, etc.) is there anything I should be concerned about in a car like this? It seems that SR20DE's break 200k without needing any major work at all, and I'm really thinking about just buying it, because the price is crazy low as I understand it also.

Also I hear the A-Frame can rust pretty easily. So yeah, anything to look for specifically or anything with mileage/reliability would be much appreciated. I also know the radiators tend to be leaky on G20's at about this age, I'm assuming it's the same, so I guess looking for that would be good too.

Thanks guys, I hope to join the Nissan enthusiasts soon!

5th gear pop-out.

You've got good brakes!

I don't know about the radiator. I've never had any trouble with mine.

My SR20DE has 224K on it and never had even the valve cover off of it. I think you got a great deal on that car for $2K.

Thank you much for the welcome Any idea of a good way to fix the 5th gear pop out, or just a new transmission? heh. I suppose if that's the only problem going well past 200k, any complaints would be retarded hehe

Cheaper to buy another transmission. 95-97 200sx se-r. Won't have to worry about the pop out ever again.

Good to know! Thanks to both of you. Also, is the pop out guarenteed or is it something like the crankwalk on DSMs which only really happens to few but is horridly overexaggerated?

And does anyone know anything about this "A-Frame?" I gotta check on it, because last I heard it had something to do with suspension and could get serious if untreated.

5th gear pop out will happen sooner or later on 91-to early 94 transmission's. 95-97 200sx SE-Rs they fixed the problems. 98 200 sx se-r has no LSD, so you don't want that year.

Welcome to NICO. I would still have the compression and oil pressure tested before buying. Compression should be 150-178psi, and oil pressure should be +11psi at idle and 46-57psi at 3200rpm. Engines are fairly inexpensive, but better to know what you've got before buying.
