Forgive me, I'm doing my best to search and will continue to search, but I was hoping someone can give me some advice based on experience. I just bought a mint condition '07 G35 coupe and I love it. Except for the system.. I'm kind of a stereo enthusiast and I am so very disappointed in the sound of this car. I have premium sound with the Bose set. I honestly don't want to go wild with this system as I have spent thousands in the past on my previous vehicles. I would like to keep the stock radio and I guess I should say that I really like highs and with this car a little base will suffice. I may be able to even bare with the stock 6x9's depending on what it sounds like if I replace the rest of the speakers. I am not opposed to separates all though I want to stay as close to the stock setup and sizes as possible. I believe they call for an odd size if I'm correct. I'm hoping to not have to buy an amp to power the speakers if possible. I have to admit, my wife has a 2010 Lexus is250 and her stock system sounds really good. I don't mind spending a little $$ if I can get it to sound really clean. Anyone who knows stereo's should know what I mean by "clean". I'm hoping to not have to cut anything as I would like the air space to be as sealed as I can get it, although like III said I am open to advice to get what I want. I apologies for the long post and I should have spent more time searching but it's late some I'm hoping someone will throw my a bone here lol. I will continue to search but thanks in advance for any input, and will be appreciated. Thanks -Tim

Welcome to NICO

If you just want some more bottom end then put a sub in the back and tap into the rear speakers via an amp with speaker-level inputs.

Sorry for not being specific. I'm trying to not change the stock HU and really right now I'm looking for more w/o having to change too much and hopefully not the amp. I just got married so the wife won't let me spend a lot. I guess I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck and get a really clean sound. What should I put in the front doors and recommendations on an overall setup w/o hopefully changing the HU and buying a new amp. I know it's kind of a broad question, but my car is in the shop (getting a curbed rim fixed) and I have only had it a few days and haven't been able to see what I actually have in their or what can fit. I want to keep the air space as close to stock as I can, ie. not having to cut and leaving holes where too much air can pass through sacrificing the sound quality if you know what I mean by that. Should I put separates in the front? Or go with components and add the tweeters on top of that? I am sorry that this is kinda vague but I'm trying to get a plan together for when my car is ready and I can get this done. I just hate having a car that is supposed to have "premium" sound but to me doesn't hit the mark. I am used to spending a couple grand on my cars but I really don't need to do that with this car. My wife has a 2010 Lexus is250 and her stock system sounds great and that's all I'm looking for. Any advice on size, brand, etc would be very much appreciated. Again sorry for the vague question but I appreciate the the responses. Thanks again. - Tim

I do have an amp and two 10" JL subs, I would much rather put 2 8"'s in there or maybe just 1 10" but I don't know if I can hook up any amps to the stock HU

My first post didn't require any changes to the existing system, just adding sub/amp in the trunk and tapping into the rear woofers. If you are going to replace the front speakers you will be OK with the tweeter as it should be 4ohm. The mid and woofer may be 2ohm so replacing those with 4ohm would give you less sound.

Thanks again. I'm gunno go to the local audio store and see what they recommend. Do the front and side speakers run off the amp or HU? Should I replace the amp with a 4 channel? I'm not really looking for base just yet( in the near future) so I'm really looking for clarity, and I like highs too lol

Edit* love the rims on the G37 coupe. Also very clean car, nice!

Everything runs off the amp. Challenges with bose is due to low ohm mids and woofers. If I was going to replace the speakers I would go the whole way and install a JL Audio CleanSweep + amp and speakers.

Oh, and Thanks :)

I will probly ask for that for Christmas but I'm 31 so I don't know how much people will spend on me. I was hoping to get a quality set of separates and then add on later but it might be better to just wait if buying separates now will hinder the system in the end.
