I currently have a 2004 Mini Cooper S, but I am looking to trade it in and possibly get a used 350z. My question is what are the changes made to the car from year to year. I'll admit I know very little about the 350z but this car looks amazing to me.

I have a question for you taylor.... have you heard of many people swapping bigger motors into the Mini? I had a thought last night while watching austin powers goldmember. I saw that Mini and thought, that thing would be wicked with a VQ35 in it.... Have you ever heard of that? whats the weight on that car anyway?

Oh yeah, welcome to NICO!

interesting trade, my GF has an 06 Cooper, not the S still ful little car to drive, completely different from a Z33, just wondering what the motivation behind this swap is? I think in a straight line they are pretty close? or at least the published data was befor they hit the market back in 02 and 03 respectively IIRC

nah, my buddy races them in his honda all the time (the S model), i can't get one to race me, but he smokes them hard and i get him by 2-3 cars every time..... Just pondering the idea of a swap for the Z (thinking RB26 or 2jz - more research to be done) and wondering what to do with the VQ.... just a thought really.

I say you trade the Coopie for a 72 Pinto with a chevy 350 small block and a blower. And put a license plate that says "SLEEPER"

Haha yeah... No the 350z would handle a cooper s in a straight line easily. The mini is a quick handling car, great in the turns but honestly has the aerodynamics of a brick at high speeds. I have seen a thread about someone switching the motors. http://www.northamericanmotori...+swapThis thread has an example but I can't find the one I was thinking of, I'll keep looking. I do love driving the mini and I can't say that I'm definitely trading it in. I'm just trying to explore my options so...

Does the 350z have backseats? Are there specific years that have backseats? What engine modifications were made from year to year etc...

if you are looking for back seats the G is the way to go. Check out the stuck thread at the top of the forum page titled "350z Faq & General Info" in there is the differences between years of the Z and the G. also has torque ratings....The G is a great car and has a lot more luxury options but you can't beat a Z's agility and B/A looks..... I do love the G's though
