Greetings!

Just picked up my new 2010 Black Platinum 4X4 yesterday and enjoying the new car smell!

Drove the 200 miles from the dealer to my home while playing with various features and for the most part, I'm really pleased. However, I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer:

1. From what I can tell, there is no way to show CURRENT speed on the Navigation system like I get on cheapy Garmin GPS's. The only thing I can find is AVERAGE speed on the status pages. Is there a way to view CURRENT speed? (Another feature on the newer Garmins which I realize is certainly not on the 'Mada, but would be nice in an update... is the speed limit indicator for the current location).

2. Is there a setting I missed to mute or reduce the volume of the broadcast/aux audio when navigation alerts are made? (I was listening to relatively loud music and couldn't hear the navigation alerts over the music)

3. Can the steering wheel audio presets control be reversed? (On mine, when you press UP, the presets go down... as in A2 to A1. This seems backwards. When you press UP it should go A1 to A2 IMHO)

That should do for now, though I''m sure I'll have a ton of further questions, especially about mods.

Giving up my 2007 1/2 Hummer H3 Tactical Edition (only 250 of this Limited Edition in Black in the world) with 18000 miles for the 'Mada. Loved it, but with a 2 year-old first child, I had to go a more family friendly route... sigh! Now... if I can just militarize the "Mada a bit......

Welcome! (and good choice, I might say

I think you are out of luck on all three of those, but I'd to hear that I am wrong from someone else.

Welcome to the "Fine Rig" Forum! Glad to have you as a new member of NICOclub!

Laurin1 is correct, you are out of luck on those 3 items, but you will find plenty of features that will more than make up for that!

Also, you going to perform the mod so that you can watch DVD movies on the front Nav screen (also allows FULL use of the Nav while the vehicle is in motion)?

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!

I would seriously consider the DVD mod, but I'm waiting for a better solution that what I've seen so far. While realizing that it "works", I am very concerned about warranty issues after this mod.

I bought Gold + Preferred extended warranty with the vehicle for seven full years of nearly total coverage. I wouldn't want to lose that because I cut wires on my own.

I imagine that some of our techie friends out there will eventually develop a one-stop solution that would only require a chip or bypass without any other snipping... I hope!

One other pain on this vehicle that's a little messy is the settings to get the DVD player in the back to isolate from the front. You HAVE to use controls on the rear display to accomplish that, and a two-year old can't do it. So when I switch from normal to isolate, I have to actually climb in the back of the vehicle and manually set the right mode. Pain!

Well, to be honest with you, there is a way, it is complicated yet rather simple. You would need to purchase the same plugs that would plug into the back of the stereo, and the other plug that would plug into the wiring harness. You would then connect all wires accordingly, and basically you will have made a "plug'n'play" version of this mod. Does any of what I said make sense? LOL

I'm with Timmbo, I'd like to hear more about this method. Can you explain it a little further?
