Hello all, great forum!!! I just bought a 1997 I30T, LOVE the car and would like to improve on it.1.Headlights yellow and turn on without me hitting the switch. Can I just bolt on a one peice headlight and turnsignal I found on ebay? Will me replacing the headlights get rid of the problem of the lights turning on alone?2.The bose is so kick *** that my rearview mirror moves all the way downward by itself, is this normal or do I have to replace it?3.I read on here that the "T" model does have stiff struts but my feel like there are done for eventhough the person I bought the car from told me they replaced them "not to long ago". If and when I do get new springs and struts, which are going to give me the best ride. I live in NYC and the streets here are really bad with potholes. Theres also a bird like chirp when I hit any kind of bump.4.When I strat thr car there is a whistle sound but as soon as it warms up it goes away. What could that be?

Please give me some direction. I thank you guys in advance for any and all assistance you can give me in these matters.

Good choice1. Check your light switch. it might be on auto or on. It will shut off when you take the key out and or after the delay. And yes you can swap it out for a ebay one since you don't have HIDs. 2. See if there is anywhere you can tighten the mirror.3. The "T" is the sport model. And usually have stiffer suspension and bigger tires. I have a 02 I35 sport and the rims, tires are different for the other model and the sport has side skirts.4. Don't know what the whistle sound can be. It could be a vacuum leak.

You can get the one piece from Ebay, however, the light pattern isn't very good on them. Although, I don't much mind myself, I think they look great. As far as the lights turning on alone...that sounds to me like either your switch is bad or maybe some type of mod the previous owner did to avoid leaving his lights on when he turned off the car.

Sounds like you need a new mirror. I don't know if these can be fixed though.

Any adustable strut will give you a great ride by virtue of the fact that you can adjust them to suit your tastes on ride quality. As far as springs go, there are many threads on this forum that go into great depth about different spring and strut combinations. Do a search and you will find what you are looking for.

Its always hard to diagnose a sound when I'm here and you are there. Where is it coming from? Your intake, your belt, your water pump, your air vent?

1,000,000 thanks 4 sound advice, just gonna get a new mirror and change the struts. Also gonna get a crossdrill disks set up 4 my braking isn't as great as the proformance. Who would have though a ten year old car would hold up so well. Car has 120K on it, can I still tweak the engin? The previous owner was a girl who bought it new and never really pushed it. Its as stock as stock gets.

The VQ is a pretty stout motor. As long as it hasn't been abused, you will be absolutely fine doing engine mods with 120k. If you continue taking care of it, you'll easily see another 100,000 miles without much trouble.

I have a 133k on the motor and I'm planning to put on a blower. With rugular maintenance you can get these engines up to 210-250k before its time for an engine rebuild. Also, I wouldn't recommend cross-drilled rotors. If anything, i would recommend saving your money for a big brake conversion or a better set of pads to use on your existing brakes.
