Hey everyone! I have an OBD1 95' 240sx KA and just installed a JWT pop-charger on it. I of course couldnt put the IAT(intake air temp) sensor anywhere on the JWT unit so I unplugged the IAT and ran it with a CEL for a few hours. I plugged in the IAT sensor and zip tied it to another wire to keep the CEL in its box where it belongs , not on my gauge cluster.
I reset the CEL and all was good and well for about 20 miles until I got the CEL coming on again. I pulled the code and it was #37 Closed Loop (EC-109 in the FSM) which is telling me that the car is running right and should be running closed loop, but its not, and points to an oxygen sensor issue. I checked the O2 sensor wiring ( its new) and even changed out the o2 sensor with a brand new one. I reset the CEL and tried again. I drove about 1 mile and the CEL came on again flashing , increasing frequency with RPM. I am assuming this is the O2 test mode on the ECU. I am resetting the CEL by this method :
Ignition switched to "ON"engine stoppedturn ECU screw clockwise for 2 seconds, then back to original positionstart the car, turn the screw clockwise for 2 seconds then back to original position . stop engine, start again, code should then be gone.
The bottom line is, The cars performance is not changed at all by the CEL, it still pulls hard and runs like a champ. I need to get the CEL resolved though.
What can you guy suggest?-anyone else have a CEL after replacing an intake piece ?-random question- Does the car run closed loop anytime there is a CEL ( even for something like the IAT sensor being unplugged , it being a part not related to performance, just emissions)-How do you get rid of the IAT sensor without getting a CEL?
I hope someone can help me out here, the other forums havent helped at all and search brings up a lot of custom fuel system results but nothing that has been useful for my situation. Thanks in advance
