I'm new to this site and have admired various Nissans/Datsuns for a long time. I owned a 510 for a while and loved it.
However, I have to be honest, I'm mainly into Toyotas and BMWs these days.
That said, I have a project I'm gonna start. I've been on a long search for factory spring clip hose clamps for an engine swap I'm doing. From my Toyota days, I was converted to the OEM school of thought on hose clamps. The spring constant tension clamps are the best. Although the standard worm clamps have their place, in cooling systems they don't play nice with the thousands of heat cycles engines go through in street cars. Of course, this doesn't include intake pipes and other applications where worm clamps and T-Bolt clamps' superior clamping force is needed.
In cooling systems such clamps cause what the experts call "bedding" where the clamp cuts into the hose after numerous heat cycles. If you're like me, you've no doubt taken off more than one of these clamps and have seen severe bedding and were just amazed that they worked as well as they did.
Anyway, I'm looking to put up a small web site where there will be a table listing every possible factory spring clip and the corresponding hose diameter.
Ex:
17 mm = 96134-52600 would be the Toyota clip.
19 mm = C88832284 would be the Ford clip.
21 mm = 14833-4LLW2 would be the Nissan clip. (not real number!)
This would be invaluable for those of us doing engine swaps or retro-fitting an old car with current best practices.
What I'm looking for is an expert with Nissan clamps. A dealer counterman, etc.
Why don't I go Toyota-only with this?
Toyota is notoriously unhelpful and their parts numbers (or basically anybody who wants to turn their own wrench - don't get me started!
And, if someone has already done this, please point me in the right direction. I'd rather not tackle this if someone else has done it. I've just never seen it.
Thanks for any help with this.
Regards,
Mark
