Hey guys, just picked up a 2006 M45 yesterday. So far I'm loving it! It's definitely a change coming from a BMW 540.

Anyway, I'm wondering what direction to take with trying to integrate my ipod into the car. I've searched for a few days on some forums and just can't decide what's best. What have you all used?

Not sure if it makes a difference, but my car is a 2006 and does not have nav. Most of the people that have posted about their ipod setups have had nav so I'm hesitant to order a kit without knowing for sure that it will work.

The main one I've been looking at other than the factory Nissan one that I've read a little about is this kit made by Peripheral. The specs say it works with a 2007 M but doesn't mention a 2006. Is there a difference? Also, this ad says it will not work with nav radios, but I've seen a youtube video of it working on a M35 with nav. I'm so confused, help!

Sorry man, I cant help. Ive got mine hooked up through the AV inputs behind my center console. I dont know if your car has them or not.

However, I'd like to hijack your post and ask you what your thoughts are about the car, coming from a 540.

Hi, and welcome.

There was a post a while ago on this topic. You may need to search for "Ipod Integration" and you should find it.

As near as I can figure, there are only a couple of different routes to go with this:1. FM transmitter (cheap, sound quality may be an issue)2. Plug Ipod into AV jacks in the back seat (assuming your car has them). Basically a headphone jack going into a couple of RCA jacks. This is how I have done it.3. Get a satellite radio kit and intergrate your Ipod through it. Apparently you can then also use the steering wheel controls. There is a post here on this topic as well.

I don't know if there are any other ways. As I said, I've been using the second method, and laying my 5G Ipod into the ashtray area. It fits so nicely, I am thinking of mounting it there permanently.
