- check the engine compartment for any sign of oil leak (cylinder head gasket, brake, power steering, etc)- check shock absorber for oil leak too. if the suspension is not responsive, have doubt on it.- when test driving on rough road/cement, you must not hear any knocking on your suspension, else, there might be a problem on ball joints, tie rod, etc.- for automatic transmission, you must not feel (minimal to zero) changing between gears.- check brake: your steering should not vibrate when decelerating; should not hear any squeak when applying brake.

good luck!

Since it's a CVT, drive very slowly in a parking lot, press on and off the gas gently and listen carefully for any grinding, rattling or otherwise abnormal noises. Remember that that CVT should be silent, even if a salesman may try to tell you otherwise.

Also, drive in a parking lot and turn the wheel all the way to the left and all the way to the right and make sure there is no clunking noise or "hopping" and "jumping", it should be completely stable, smooth and quiet.
