New hear. $4000 to spend... help me out here.

Hey everybody.Brand new here but not new to nissans.My Z32 300zx is about sold so i bought a 240SX for 900 bucks.its a 90 fastback, 5-speed, clean, run not to bad.This is going to be my daily driver.I drive to and from college which is a 50mile hike both ways, and i do drive around alot.Now i only have 4g's for a daily driver because im building a 1972 240Z turbo hybrid thats taken all my money and time.So now i have 3100 maybe 3300 if i look around my room for loose change

.SR20 swap is a must!theres a shop in tampa that does alot and they said they will do the swap for 500 bucks, but thats 500 i can save if i do it myself...so ill prob do that.So is it a hard swap? any tools ill need? etc etc.also sense my 240sx is a SOHC i heard you cant keep PowerSteering and such! is this true? i need PS and A/C.what i would like to do is get a front clip and put the S13 front end on the Fastback.How much am i looking for a complete front clip including headlights, bumper, etc!the only mods ill do to the car is a MBC, custom FMIC like a NPR or something like that, full 3in exhaust, fuel pump, clutch.ill prob do all the work so thats saving money.so how much am i looking at? im hoping not over 3300 bucks!Thanks, and i have been looking threw the search feature and it did answer a few of my Q's...

s13 sr20det = 2200 shipping = 300clutch = 375Z32 Fuel Pump = 150

THEN about 275 for JUST IN CASE items...

wiring harness stuff..unless you do it...recommend service do it. dauntless

well i found a SPEC stage 3 clutch for $330, and im guessing i can find a stage 2 for cheaper cuz all im doing to the car is a daily driver.Also i dont think the car has LSD, so i need that cuz drifting is fun

and the the intercoolers ive been looking at are around 300 bucks, and the exhaust ill make myself with a Apex-I turbo muffler... im guessing around 300 bucks for the whole thing for me to make it.

you are gonna NEED that stuff i listed. sr20's have a tendency to come in with bad clutches already...just a thought. you will have a lil bit left over..very little. unless you can find a cheaper sr20. which i don't recommend...adam (dauntless) has some of the cheapest sr20's around. GREAT CONDITION. he should have a shipment soon...he just started his business up.

i wont buy anything like that on ebay.but the FMIC and muffler i will.also does dauntless have a webpage or anything like that with price sheets and etc.

Since it's going to be your daily driver, I'm guessing you won't be running past stock boost, so imo you don't really need an FMIC, which will save you money. If you buy your motor set from Dauntless, I think he includes the SMIC as well.

Also, If you want an S13 clip with good body panels that's going to at least cost you 3,000.

To get the P/S to work you need the DOHC lines, reservoir, and pump. For A/C you need to get custom lines to the SR A/C compressor or get a DOHC KA compressor and lines.

well ill bring the boost up to about 14-15psi.so i guess ill do a FMIC.is there any write ups onS SOHC to SR-swaps. like shows how to do's for PS, and A/C?maybe ill forget the S13 frontend for now

also, the swap is pretty much straight forward...places charge 1000 usually to put it in, but if ur familiar with engines...it bolts right in. you just have to change all the wiring over from RHD to LHD. do some research...go to google and type in sr20det swap...blah blh blah. or just search the nico forums..theres PLENTY of info.

Ya i know the SR20 bolts right up, im still lost on the wireing. Whats ment but making it go from RHD to LHD?im guessing if you just wiring it up the ECU will be sitting in the drivers side, so do i just push it over to the other side?The Intercoolers ive been looking at is something like this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=6755

something like that, not 800 bucks but looks nice, pretty big and can hold enough power that ill be putting out.Also ive read that if im just boosting 14psi or so i dont need to upgrade the injectors.i dont really have 600 bucks for Nismo or any other aftermarker 555cc injectors, would MKIV Twin turbo Supras work? 300zx TT's even though they suck?and i have a MBC and autometer boost gauge already.

Also you'll be looking at getting either a gauge cluster from a DOHC ka or an aftermarket tach since the SOHC tach won't work with the sr's tach signal. As far as wiring goes, that should be your only stumbling block. Good Luck!

but was i correct about the wiring or what?im picking up my Boost gauge, MBC tomorrow.so parts are coming together.also does the 89-90 fastback's have LSD?if not will the JDM S13 LSD work? ive found those for like 200 bucks.

for the wiring you have to extend wires to the other side of the car where the ecu goes because there are dash plugs there so u cant just move it over. theres a couple other plugs that have to be switched to get other things to work. http://sr20.hybrids.jp/installations/index.html pretty sure that site has a lot of info ont he wiring. search around i'm having mine done by someone who has experience.... duantless

man u on a super tight buget man the thing about the sr swap is that a engine will cost about 2k and a fcim u said about 800 then i would get clutch. z32 maf... thats about 3200 right there if u do all the work urself plus a few hundred wtf cash for parts u might need or are broken during intall.
