please resist the urge to flame im just looking for a little help.

im trying to install a new headunit into the new 240 i just bought. its nothing special, just a 150 dollar sony POS, but the car had no radio when i bought it , so this is def an upgrade. The harness in the dash looked hacked to ****, the previous owner def had some mickey mouse stuff goin on. from the factory harness there was another harness attached already(i dont know if the second harness went to the stock unit or another aftermarket radio.)

wierd thing the second harness had TWO sets of each wire, but the wire originated from radio side of the harness, and came out of the same pin out. I.E. 2 greens, 2 greens/black stripe, 2 purple/2 purple/black stripe, and so on, but the extra wires were all cut and taped of really ****ty(duct tape). i got to work the same way i always do(this is my sixth radio install)soldered all the conections from the second harness to the sony harness, except i left the extra wires (one for each color) taped off.

made sure i had a quality ground, and put everything back together. ive got power, the ant goes up, but nothing outta any of the speakers! checked the speaker ends, and theyre all new looking pioneers that have no visable damage. im not even getting any static out of them.

went through the factory service manual and figured out the pin outs on the factory harness and tried to just bypass that wierd harness, but i still get no sound?

acording to the manual it looks like there might be a factory amp somewhere in the car. im wondering if it was removed and now my speakers are getting no power.

any help woud be greatly apreciated, i really dont wanna run new wires...

thanks, that is a niffty little site. but i already know what each wire is. i read it straight off the factory wiring diagram. my problem is that everything is connected right at the harness, but somewhere between the harness and the speakers a problem exists. i suspected the factory amp. since i posted yesterday ive been doing some more searching and ive got a couple things to try. if all else fails, ill just run all new speaker wires. i was just wondering if anyone else ever had a similar problem.

Yup, we figured it out! Heh. Looks like the previous owner/micky mouse extraordinaire decided that it would be fun to completely blow all FOUR of the stock amplifiers.

The one in the rear was the worst. The board is blackened and capacitors (?) were just blown right off:

Bypassing the amps completely with the new speaker/head unit combo worked perfectly. Will is now bumpin' yet again.

hahah dont act like your car didnt ALREADY have the LED wiper nozzles on there! All I did was wire them up so that they actually work! I cant wait to see them in the dark. Ricer.

The previous owner probably had nothing to do with the amps blowing up.ALL nissan/bose amp-on-speaker amps break. They fail so often that there are aftermarket replacement amps available. You did the right thing by wiring around them.
