I was interested in purchasing new headlights for my 2007 M the previous owner "spray painted" a tint on them and started to chip :( I was interested in switching the HID to Halogen headlight assembly and buy Led Light bulbs and install them instead of having the HID system there are only 2 harness on the halogen light so would I have to cut the other 2 off?

Why would you ever go from HID back to halogen? That's like going from 2019 to 1 A.D. lol.

LED headlight lamps are readily available and usually not very expensive. Here is why. To be effective, they need to be in a vehicle already wired and focused for them. otherwise, you get a nice color, but npo distance and improper beam. It would be better to keep the HIDs but use a good quality bulb with a higher kelvin and more lux. I recommend Osram or Phillips, depending on your budget. Best place to buy is The Retrofit Source - they get stock direct from the factory so you won't get cheap copycat bulbs sold at the name brand price. https://www.theretrofitsource.com/

Ahh. Got it. These cars aren't intended to use LED bulbs. The projector bowl isn't designed for it as Larz said. Here is an example of an LED in a halogen projecter on my '13 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R. And these were expensive 4-sided $160 bulbs. Not your Amazon special.

Replacing the headlight assembly will look amazing. When our ho-hum quality lenses fade and get cloudy it ruins the entire appearance. That's why every 6 months or so I spend a few minutes with the buffer and some plastic polish. They look brand new when finished. I suggest you do the LED to only one side at first, leaving a high quality HID in the opposite side. Compare them whilst shinning them at a white wall and driving about in your neighborhood. That way you can compare and decide which looks and works better. I use Osram CBI bulbs and when I'm next to a new Mercedes or BMW, there is very little difference in color and how far the beams reach. When I'm next to a wannabe LED car, it's sad for them.

I love the LED headlights that I have in my armada. But aren't all of the 2nd gen m series projectors no matter what model they are?
