We just got done making our prototype exhaust for the F50 Q45 with impressive gains

The first round is a 2.25" true dual header back exhaust, all mandrel bent in mild steel for test purposes. The gains were quite impressive on what was measurable. We couldn't get a true dyno run all the way through because of the automatic in the Q, but where we could measure, 3,500rpms-5,800 rpms showed impressive gains.

Our stock dyno showed 252WHP and 268ft/lbs
after the header back showed 264WHP and 281ft/lbs

We couldn't measure the true low end torque, but there is a huge difference which is why we did 1/4 mile times also.

Before:
60' 1.976 @ 32.42638mph
330' 5.972 @ 57.41428mph
660' (1/8) 9.352 @ 73.85625mph
1000' 12.267 @ 84.51481mph
1/4 14.726 @ 92.36089mph

After
60' 1.714 @ 35.06204mph
330' 5.514 @ 59.80051mph
660' (1/8) 8.78 @ 76.33515mph
1000' 11.612 @ 87.08392mph
1/4 13.992 @ 95.14817mph

We're going to try a 2.5" mandrel header back also soon and also look into building headers as these numbers were with a cracked drivers side exhaust manifold and 94,000 miles on our 2002 Q45 test mule with staggered 20" wheels and 275 tires out back.

If there is interest, we will be creating a bolt on kit to replace the front y-pipe setup and the rear section that can be created in stainless or coated mild steel.

MC,

Is that a common issue? I have seen a few F50's stopping in w/ CEL on; P0171, P0173, or P0420, all sounding as if they have exhaust leaks in the manifold or piping. Seems as though a stainless cat back might be in greater demand.

I had the driver side exahust manifold/header crack and the resonator.
Both seemed to be design-related.
THe resonator just had too much wieght on it from the exhaust mounts being too far away (imho)
I didn't get to look at the exhaust manifold/header but I have also heard of several other 02F50 owners having a driver side leak.
I thouht the p0420 was a bad #2 o2 sensor? I replaced both back o2 sensors when I got that code.

Basically, once you make your way around the forums, you'll understand why your statement is irrelevant. The Q45 Forum is an amazing plethora of knowledge; completely based off of the purist form of the vehicles, not modified. They boil down to load and speed ratings of the tires, replacing OEM wheels with OEM wheels after a few years due to usage. So, any type of modification away from stock is usually frowned upon and either moved here, or removed from the boards. I will continue my part by assisting you in any way that I can, as long as you let me do so : )

Catalyst efficiency below threshold can be either the oxygen sensor or cat. 90% of the time, it's the O2. Just possible to be either way. Usually the cat leads to lack of power.

jltibbs, gracekiz has a point.....don't vippers just gut the engine, transmission and exhaust, and just do 'still art' :naughty: .........tee heee heeeee......I crack my self up....... :gapteeth: .

jltibbs, YOu`point is well made. Exhaust mod is just as important to the vipper as it is to the modder. And when a guy like bosworth is doing the whole enchallada...he can post here.

Bos, I think you should look a doing these not only for the performance aspect, but also the sheer improvement over OEM. If you can get these into some sort of production, we can talk to the admin about you signing up for the fabricators market.

Also, I am still in need of upgrading/changing my exhaust. I have the exact plans for what I want done, but don't trust anyone around here to do the work.
