I just purchase a 1996 nissan hardbody truck. It has the 4 cyl motor in it. It is going to need some work and parts, I was wondering if any of you know of a good place to get cheap parts for these, I need both front bumper turn signals. Both front marker lights, a coolant reservoir bottle, various plugs for lights, and a mass air flow sensor. If any of you have these parts and would maybe like to get rid of them please contact me.

Welcome to NICO! Two places come to mind. For new parts I recommend using www.rockauto.com. For used parts I prefer to use www.car-part.com.

Thanks for the welcome. Now a few questions. I purchase the truck "as is" so it has some problems. The main one being that the mass air flow sensor was unplugged with the wiring harness that plugs into it being gone, this caused the truck to not drive above 2,500 rpm. I played around with it today and got the wires back on, could someone please tell me is i got the wires on the right spot. I had 3 wires, one being green with red stripe, one white, one black. I connected the green with red stripe ( which showed around 13/14 volts when connected to volt meter) to the top pin, then I plugged the white one into the middle pin and finally the black wire into the bottom pin. This allowed the truck to go above 2,500 rpm and actually idle well. I tested the voltage coming out of the black wire by probing with volt meter while the negative was connected to the battery and was get 1.4XX volts at idle and around 2.5XX volts when revved up. Is this the correct voltage I should be getting??

I have noticed that there are quite a few parts broken/missing. Does anyone know of anyone that has a parts truck they would be willing to give me parts off of. I'm willing to pay shipping etc., if not I may have to go visit the bone yard...

The boneyard is a pretty good bet for parts like that. I don't have a parts truck at the moment though I feel I should. So the engine harness is missing the connector for the MAF completely? Sounds like someone before you was a hack. That can be had at the JY. I'd cut a little bit of harness and solder that to your loose wires.

Ahh welcome to owning a 96 D21. Sorry to say but be prepared for re-wiring the MAF completely from the ECU to the MAF. It is the only way to avoid issues with the MAF. The MAF wires get cracked down the line further and further each time. The actual plastic plug goes bad first and you cannot find replacements very easily so mostly a slip on connector is your only choice and lots of electrical grease/tape to cover the MAF plug hole.

Like Rev said maybe you can find one at a junk yard but I could not in my area. Mine lasted about 2 years with a short rewiring and an OEM Reman style MAF from Mamouth auto, they have the best deals. But I happen to have a MAF sitting here I was about to send back so I can sell you this one, never installed it. I found a new truck so I threw in the towel on my 96. (not only because of MAF troubles/engine probs/rust)

PM me and we can set up a deal if you are interested.
