Happy New Year everybody. Mine has started out right. I went in to the dealership a week ago to test drive a G-35 to compare it to a Lexus IS 250, and left with a new '06 sedan, 6 spd mt, premium A and navigation, at about the same price as the IS 250. Its silver with the black leather interior. Needless to say I'm very glad I took that test drive at my brother's urging (he told me his g-35 was "retarded fast") and ended up with 100 more hp, and all the goodies over the stripped down Lexus. I need to throw in a V-1 and I'll be good to go.

It was like the planets aligning -- end of the year, change over to the new model, manual transmission -- all contributed to an awesome deal that I could not pass up. Cheers,Dan

Welcome to NICO. Always good to see noobs here

The IS with the 3.5L is a nice car. BUT, as you saw, they are somewhat overpriced when you look at their "competition". The G is a great car and actually holds its value better than the rest.

Thanks.

Overpriced is one way of putting it. I was looking at the smaller engined Lexus to get the manual transmission which is only 205 hp. After I bought the G, I priced out the Lexus with similar options and engine and it was over $40K, which is way out of my league.

Congrats. I think the biggest dissappointment I read about for the new IS series is the undefeatable VDC. The chassis and available motors are capable for what they are but the VDC keeps you from ever using their capabilities.

When I wear through and before I replace the first set of tires I'll be sure to turn off the VDC and do some doughnuts in the Discount Tire parking lot. I'm still learning the capabilities of the car with the VDC on, so I'm not really sure when it kicks in, or when I need to turn it off, if ever. I'm one of those guys who thinks he knows how to drive fast. VDC was made to save my *** from disaster.
