Greetings Earthlings,Bought a 90 300zx N/A 2+2 A.T. tonight. owner knew nothing about cars,Says it went bang bang bang a mile from Home, and He kept on going

I'm an L series builder from way back, 46 years old owned several Z's a fleet of Datsun 510's, and I've owned one 90 300ZX previously

Assumption: I know the belt has jumped, He says he went a mileand parked it. What are the odds that the pistons are intact?

on my L24's piston/ valve contact didn't always spell "bottom end too"sometimes the head was toast, other times new seats and valves

I'm sure these big multi valvers are probally scrap, But I'm wondering if any of you have been able to replace valves and seats when the music goes bang

I've had experience with engine rebuilding and understandthat the used japanese motor is a very good way to fix it but I'm scotish Damn it I'd like to pull the heads and take a peak befor I commit to spending 900.00 on a used motor

Go Easy on me young ones I'm old and decreped

here's the little Beauty

It depends on how far it jumped. But if he says it jumped, then there must have been a clar reason he thinks that.

Basically, the best you can do is put a new belt on it and run a compression and leakdown test. Compression testers are only $20 or so. This is the quickest way to tell.

For the lfe of me I can't find a SEARCH icon anywhere Help!

I found it

still didn't find what I was looking for. anyone have a link to VG30DE engine removal I did read a bunch of threads about guys asking about removing eng/trans combo, a couple of guys said remove trans

I plan on unbolting the coverter from the flexplate, and unbolting the bell housing, these do come ou the top don't they ?

You don't need to pull the engine to do a timing belt.http://www.ttzd.com/tech/timingbelttech.html

But if you still want to pull the engine....http://www.ttzd.com/tech/enginetech.html

timing belt is pretty easy with the engine in the car, as a matter of fact aside form the extra cams to deal with it's an easier replacement than on a Z31, I say slap a belt on it (assuming you find the belt at elast close to where it should be) then do a compression test
