Hello www, wish I knew about this when i had my 240, woulda had a lot less problems with my vg30dett swap. I recently aquired a 99 maxima but unfortunately it had no paper work or anything for that matter, got it at a auction. I need to replace the axles and it seems to have been done before already, i need to know if theres a way to tell which model i have so that i buy the right axles, otherwise i would need to buy all three different ones and go by trial and error. also any recommendations on whether to go turbo or super, cant really decide. oh and lastly anyone got a nice suspension setup for sale or point me in the right direction (locally obviously). Thanx

its not so simple, i thought it would be. first you have the base no goodies, then you have the next step up (SE), finally you ahve the SE with limited slip diff. I need to know if theres some kind of code somewhere to tell me which axles go with my transmission

Welcome!

You can tell if you have the LSD or not by looking at the metal plate on the firewall. It should show the transmission code, which will end in "A" for open diff and "V" for LSD.

Actually, there are more than two trans options.

Some models have LSDs so one axle is shorter on those models.

you know what, found a website that actually lists each type, obviously i cant really post it but i can say that they made easy enough for me to distinguish. but for the future there are several types of axles for the nissan maxima model year 95-99. the first would be with abs and traction control, next without either, and any combo in between. i asked a few junkyards thats why i got confused as well, like honestly how many types of axles can there be for this car, its not like its a super car or something that model specific. but apprently i was wrong. thanx for your help though it made me think a little more on it

Just in case you didn't catch my post above again after I edited more info into it:You can tell if you have the LSD or not by looking at the metal plate on the firewall. It should show the transmission code, which will end in "A" for open diff and "V" for LSD.

They're google ads. Google offers and ad service that basically sticks a slot for a variety of topically relevant ads on the page. Then the slot looks at the content of the page being loaded and inserts an ad that it thinks "matches" that content.

That's why a lot of the time you'll find that some of the ads on the page are eerily similar to the topic of the thread you're reading.

If someone mentions Toyotas in a post, you might see Toyota ads.

You should be able to have your parts source run the VIN and then they can order the right part.

There was a 4th gen with traction control?

I'm starting to see a trend.

Infinitis= Limited variations. You typically get the best and that's that.

Nissans= Way too many variations, you could get an american built Infiniti or a stripped Nissan.

If my information is correct, the 4th gen I30 only had VLSD if you had the 5mt touring. All of them had ABS. None of them had traction control.

Yeah i'm gonna go to a supplier this weekend. Change out the axles and brakes in one shot.
