I think this may be the only place in the world where I can get some good info. I read a bunch of post but being so new, I didnt really understand what i was reading.

Seem like there are some more than sharp people here though.

My delima;

I have a 2006 M45 that for some reason this morning developed a double kick drum style knock that shakes the entire car and sends grey smoke out the rightside exhaust.

With my luck its probably a worse case scenario. So, I am trying to find out what model carsI can use for a engine in my car.

Also, If I am going to the time and trouble of pulling the onld engine and swapping all the accessories etc, we might as well tune her up a notch right?

It wasnt too hard to fins a complete 4.5 from a '94 Q on CL but I have no ide if the short blocks are interchangable.

Any info and ideas will be a HUGE help.

Thanks, I am looking forward to seeing what I can get out of a new engine. Lots of little DS's running around here in Mustangs that I need to take some cash off of.

First off, welcome to NiCO. Someone here should be able to help.

It seems a bit too soon to be changing engines on a 2006 M45. The powertrain warranty should be 6 years or 70,000 miles. How many miles are on your car?

The car has 125k miles. I bought it used and am the third owner. It was a good deal, at the time.

I have found a complete 4.5 from a 94 q45 for 500 bucks. What are the chances the bottom ends are intechangeable?

Zero. The VH45 and VK45 are very different. Look for a VK from an FX45, M45, or 2002+ Q45.

Got it, thanks.

I have seen a few decent VK's online for under a grand. That seems cheap to me but i;m not complaining.

How far can the VK be taken while still using all the engine/trans related features of the M45?
