Hello a new guy with a 260z here.

No real plans besides getting it running, pretty sure its the solenoid on the starter, (though I want to do an engine swap but I have absolutely no clue what engine/transmission to put in) and getting it painted after I find some new fenders (preferably fiberglass but I am having no luck whatsoever) and figure out what to do with those hideous bumpers.

Just wanted to stop by post my picture and say I am looking forward to talking and learning a lot from the datsun pros here.

Nice s30, looks like a nice start to a fun project. Motor swap, how about dropping in the L28ET. As for fenders try here:

Thanks for the sites, checking out the two of them now.

Engine wise I had been considering either the rb25 or 26 but the l28 I have been looking into as well.

So far it starts though something is weird with either the wiring or the ignition since you can jump the electricity over the new solenoid and it will start but wont with the key. Who knows need to play with it some more when I can come back and work on it a bit more. (Ill post better pics of it later (were taken right before I bought it to send to a friend who knows a good deal about imports))

Also since I have had more time to mess with it I have come up with a rough idea of what needs fixed and what I want to do to it. Besides the still unknown engine swap, for the body I decided on Fairlady style fender extensions (well I think thats what they are called) a different bumper/air dam (man I can't wait to get those huge, heavy bumpers off) and shave most of the trim/emblems off as well as the rear bumper. Intending on putting a lot wider sport tires on it and beefing up the suspension. Bigger rotors/ more pistons will be a must when the engine swap is made but will have to wait till after that.

Work wise need new fenders a bit of work around the rear wheel well, floorpans and maybe a bit on the rocker panels.

First things first though is to get it running, so i can get it into the local auto body/ paint guy (did some other stuff for me and is quite impressive) to see what price range the body work I cant do and the paint is going to cost.

Sorry no more pictures yet (camera is buggered) but I should have some up next week when i go back and can take more pictures (been pretty swamped with studying and papers so cant go back til the weekend).

Me and a buddy tore the interior out Saturday. Went pretty well, insanely happy the rocker panels arent bad just the floorpans. Also did some looking and found the e-brake line is snapped as well as all the hydralic functions (brakes clutch ect) almost completely dried up with a horrendous smelling gunk in them. Also fun to find out that the tumblers in the ignition are busted somehow. Thats going to be fun.......

Besides the body being clean a positive was the engine runs really well, still worried about how the transmission is going to be.

Swap wise I have narrowed it down to the rb25det and the sr20det (mainly due to availability in this area as well as price). Kinda curious what to do with the rear end though for the swap.

Anyways ill post pics next week of my interiorless 260z as well as the closing thought of carpets are nasty...

haha, you don't have the worst bumpers of the lot...

Anyway, something just seems wrong about an SR20 swap... 4 cylinders where 6 used to be, I know you get power but straight 6s have magic and are a bit of what the Z was about in the first place... But as long as it's not a V8 I suppose

An RB would be cooler than But it's not much to get the L26 making power if you're willing to go through the trouble...

I've always thought any air dams but the most subtle look totally out of place on an S30, which is odd, because even the most stock cars seem to have had one applied... I've always thought the stock nose looks sleekest, but hey, you can always use the excuse of reducing high speed lift

I plan on going as subtle as possibly with the air dam. Even though I have the z I am a muscle car guy, dad owns a 700 hp charger and I also own (trying to sell to pay for college and z stuff) 60 tbird. Since I come from this line its very hard for me to even consider changing the body but I want a very racey look.

Also since I didnt pay as much attention as I should I didnt notice a z subforum here. I probably should post the latest pictures and such there but who knows.
