New guy here from northeast texas. Came across the forums during my search for a
240. Some background about me, I learned to drive in my moms 2008 ford fusion 5spd and my dads 2008 dodge ram 6spd. They bought me a 74' Plymouth duster when I turned 17, which then proceeded to grenade on me after six months. I've been driving the family minivan for the past 2 years and it's killing me. With income tax coming in about a month, I've decided to get back into something with 3 pedals. RWD was a must, and I decided on a 240. I'll have about $3000 total to spend. Will that buy a decent s13, or am I out of luck? I've searched the craigslist of every town within 400 miles, and the only thing I found that wasn't totally clapped out was an 89' 4 hours away in Houston.

The drift tax on any 240 is high. Might I suggest something more unusual?

Is installing an engine and transmission simple enough that someone who's never done it before could do it? There's an s13 coupe roller on craigslist for $1500 OBO and a build ka-t with supposedly everything id need to install it for $1800. I could probably haggle enough to get it in my price range.

Maybe just buy him(her) a drink and see where it goes?

If you are talking about putting two different for sale items together to make a complete car you should really have someone who knows their stuff go with you to check them out. It's really easy to overlook a vital art that's missing on or not know something is wrong if you don't have experience with the items in question.

^Agreed.
An engine/trans swap isn't really for the feint of heart. It definitely helps to have someone that's done it before there with you.
Welcome aboard!
