Hi all. I heard this was an active community so I thought I'd check it out. I don't mod or tune, but I will be maintaining my families 2012 Sentra. Anyway, I am currently working on the shifter assembly (stuck in park) so if anyone reading could point me to a useful thread, that would be great. In the future, I have a bit of body work plannned. I'll be replacing rear and front bumper covers, and a tail light assembly. Cheers.

Welcome to NICO! I can't point you to a specific thread off hand, but our Sentra forum is located here.

Someone there should be more able to help you. Got any pics of the Sentra? Always like to see different cars.

Oh man, stuck in park sucks.
I would search for "Shift interlock" or "shift lock". Typically there are a few universal criteria that need to be met before it will shift out of park.
Welcome to NICO good luck with your repair. Let us know how you make out.

Welcome to the forum!

What papa said - most likely one of those conditions not being met.

so a few days ago I opened up the console and took a peek at the shifter assembly and didn't see anything that looked like trouble. I went ahead and removed the selection knob, and heard a little rattling in the knob itself. The shifter works fine without the knob, so I've been riding beater style for a few days while I source the part, or figure a way to get the internals of the knob up to snuff. The service manuals available on this forum are great, and made all the difference. Thanks for the welcome.
