Hello all. I wasn't quite sure if it was generally accepted to make an intro post here or not, but most forums i've been a member of like intro posts so here I am.

My name is Zach. I'm 26 and a practice manager for a vet clinic as well as a college student. I've been into Subarus since 2001 when I bought my first ugly bugeye WRX. I'm currently on my 2nd STi which is a WRB 2005 model.

Stock:

After the turbo swap and supporting mods I was looking for something a bit less attractive to local law enforcement and since the car has a FMIC now the hoodscoop wasn't necessary anymore. I still keep the stock trunk lid / wing for track days.

I have very recently traded my wife's 07 Murano for a 04 G35 sedan auto. She was tired of the SUV and since she has a new job where she drives alot we figured that putting lots of miles (in comparisson) on a used car would be better off for us in the long run and this way we could save quite a bit on payments, insurance, gas, etc. while keeping her in a level of comfort she's used to.

I've read around for a short bit, but the forum is in a very different format from what i'm used to and i'm finding that i'm not too effective on finding the info i'm looking for via the FAQ sections.

I was wondering what the best "bang for the buck" mods are for these cars as well as any potential problems I should be looking for. I love the way the car looks and drives, but I simply can't leave any car alone (especially a performance sedan). Also...what's with the "black sheep" designation for the pre 05 cars about? Thanks in advance. Looking forward to joining another great community.

Hey,

welcome to Nico

I think you accidentaly posted your WRX instead of your G here. LOL J/K.

Ok under the General there is some ideas what you can do on her G.

Not sure how far you want to go with. Turbo maybe? Looks like you are a turbo guy.

The Black sheep is just something that we say because of the few problems that were not worked out before 05, CD Changer problems as well as small brakes!

Welcome to Nico..

Love the sleeper look.

The best bang for buck mods for the sedan are JWT pop Charger, Ztube... eBay those and you will see what they are.

Also you might want to keep an eye out for a Coupe mid pipe. This is the difference between the quieter sedan and the louder coupe sounding exhaust note.

Those will together give you anywhere from 10-15 hp gain. Most of which will be at the high end and it will make it much quicker.

YOu also could do a spacer,

all that can be done for under 400 bux and you looking at probably 15hp gain.

Test pipes give large gains as well but I don't have them so I can't talk to much about them lol

Good luck and give use some pictures of that G... I hope its black!

Welcome aboard!!

Love that sleeper look!

The boys have pointed you in the right direction...only if I had an autotragic the first mod I would do is a Grounding wire kit... we actually have a Staff member here that makes and sells them...so far the feedback has been extremely positive!

His name is SentientbyDesign and you will probably come across a thread in the modification database thread with his info. on it!

Yes, on the sleeper look with your car...I swear everyone and their mom has a WRX around here and I hate (no, HATE) that rear wing. I have just always thought they look goofy and think when I see them...plus each time I see one around here I think cool, looks exactly like the last one I saw 2 streets back.

Now that the rant is over, enjoy the G and welcome! We like pics of Gs too!

2004 sedan, nice.

IMO, the mod would be done in this order (if you stay NA):

1. Grounding Kit (Sentients or Grounding Gear..i dont know what sentient changed from what they had)2. JWT pop-charger/z-tube combo3. Plenum Spacer4a. cat-back exhaust (many variations that will sound good and help a ton)4b. test pipes/HFC's5. Suspension (struts/springs or coilovers)6. Sway bars7. Brakes (BBK, or rotors/brake lines/brake fluid/pads...depending on how much you want to spend of course)8. Visual upgrades (I mixed these in...still not done with it all yet)

Thanks to everyone for a warm welcome.

We just picked up the G today so pics will be coming shortly. I'll be debadging the I N F I N I T I off of the back but other than that it just looks like a stock Obsidian Black sedan.

Thanks for all the good info. This was the stuff I was looking for. The car drives great, but they can always use just a bit more oomph, but nothing big b/c this is the wife's DD.

Most upgrades in my signature should apply to the car. Depending on the build date the fan conversion might not be applicable. Me and everyone who drives my car are quite impressed with the power this heavy sedan produces.

BTW nice car. Subies are fun cars.
