Hey everybody, i guess im a new guy here, i chill in the versa forum, but im new to the Z forum. I'm 19 but i bought my 280Z 2+2 when i was 13 for $150 from my grandma's husband cuz i loved that car, when i got it, it had been sitting for like 6 years so i got a battery, new tires, brakes, maintnance stuff, and MAFS, then the really pricey part was the fuel system, i replaced fuel pump, lines, regulator, rebuilt injectors, and i cant rember what else, but its been good since. But what i was wondering, is how easy is it to rebuild the engine myself? it has 68,xxx and has rolled twice so i think its about time before i blow it, and since i have the time and cash to put up for it, I wanna do it if i can. if not i will just get a shop to do it.

if you want to rebuild I'd suggest having the bottom end assymbled at a professional machine shop, the main caps, especially the front and rear main caps are a huge pita to get in and might require freezing, and the pistons are pressed on to make it an even bigger PITA

Thanks, and yes it has been fun with no real big problems. But my biggest project so far was after 2 guys tried to jack my Z, they broke my steering column cover, ignition, and headlight/wiper switch. I am pretty good with electrical, so i ran a killswitch and toggle switch for an ignition switch, 2 more toggle switches for the wipers and headlights, and a pinswitch for the wiper water squirter thing. but all my Z projects have been goodtimes!

Sure thing, as soon as i get my car back, its at my grandmas (no registration or inspection stickers, i was living in NM before i moved to MI then back to TX) but after i do the engine, im doin custom door panels, and hopefully rear disk brakes after that, i'll probably do the door panels my self, so thats why first, and the brakes after income tax.

I'd look for a doner vehicle to replace the broken parts from the attempted theft

well ill probably do that for other parts, but i was thinking about it and i actually kinda like the custom look i got with the switches and the custom bracket i made to hold the turn signal, on that part, ill probably just look for the column cover. Oh yeah, and jd, thanks.
