Hey, my name is Jared (if you couldn't tell) and I bought my 1989 240sx fastback about 2 months ago. I have since gone from a KA24(E) with auto transmission to a 1991 KA24d(E) with manual transmission (65,000 miles on engine and transmission). I've never owned a Nissan before this and have fallen in love with the thing. I need to clear up a few things though. I want to know if the 1991 engine really has bigger cams in it or if thats just a myth among 240 owners. I also cannot seem to get the RPM gauge or coolant temp gauge to work (I'm still using the 89' cluster if that has anything to do with it). I need to replace the front main seal and was wondering if any of you guys (or gals) know where I can get a walk through on that job. Oh yeah WIRING DIAGRAMS need them. Thanks a lot!

Check the Factory service manual for front main seal changing instructions. It is pretty straight forward. Yes, the 91 - 93 KA24DE have longer duration cams than the 95 and greater motors. Both engines have the same power because the 91 - 93 KA has a more restrictive intake design.

Welcome to the club!

search around here for the sohc to dohc write up, it should tell you what to do with your tach. i think you need a tach from a dohc, and you have to wire for it. for the temperature problem, i think all that is is you have to use sohc sensors. but a search will reveal exactly what you need. it is not something i have done, so i could be wrong about a the temperature problem. but i know you need a dohc tach.good luck fixing your problems.oh yeah, and Welcome to Nico! and enjoy your stay.

Bone_Stock your sig. is awesome. Someone told me that if I could find an ECU for a 93' year model that my engine would perform better. Oh and if I put a 95' and greater year model intake manifold on my car will it make more power? From what you're telling me the cams I have + a better breathing intake manifold should equal more power. I can't find a factory service manual for this car anywhere in town. I can't even find a freakin Hayne's manual. Thanks again bone_stock!

I don't know about the ECU from the 93 being better. Yes, putting a 95 and up manifold on will yield more power. Just be warned that you have to swap everything from the old manifold onto the 95 one. I will email you the factory service manual I have to the email in your profile. That way until you find a hardcopy, you can print out the pages you need.

all you need is the upper intake manfold, the one that bolts to the head. and you just use your s13 lower intake manifold, and all s13 sensors and youll be fine.
