Hello, Let me start by saying I am not new to forced induction engines. I recently sold (blew up) a 94 Eclipse GSX that ran consistant low to mid 11 secs in the 1/4.

With that being said I will skip the dumb questions and head straight to the really dumb questions.

S13 vs S14. Ive seen several ppl note that they prefer the S13 engine. Why is this? This slightly dismays me being I have recently ordered an S14 and paid 3600 for it.

transmission. I recently *aquired* a 96 240sx. No abs. Base model 5 speed. Will the 5 speed bolt right up to the S14 engine or should I talk to someone about importing one?

The ECU is another concern and instead of doing all the re wiring I figure Ill go with a stand alone or possible import one from Japan. Does anyone know where I could find the fuel maps for the S14 engine or if anyone imports the ecu?

S14 headlight conversion. Project D quoted me 950. Is there anyone who does it cheaper?

I live in Northwest Georgia and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to a shop that could answer any questions that will more than likely be coming up. I havent had the time to search and I would rather go by suggestion than by gut feeling.

Thanks in advanceJeremy

PS just a little tid bit of info on your board problems. Vbulliten really sucks in a frames format. Try taking it out of frames and putting it on a single page and it will straighten 90% of all login problems.

The usual way to tell which engine you should get is: Do you plan to upgrade it? No, S14/S15; Yes, S13.

If it doesn't, you *could* use your KA transmission, but you need the bellhousing from the SR20. KA trannies are weak, they'll start slipping pretty quick if you start upgrading.

Ok on the headlights I mean the angry eyes I guess because the s15 lights are rather lacking in my book.

The Sr20 I ordered doesnt come with a transmission. So Ill just go ahead and start inquiring about importing one.

I plan on modding the car to maybe 400 hp. Ill have to talk to Robert over at FP and see about a custum green set-up

Thanks for the info. BTW love the name. I miss those frogs. *sigh*

wow you payed $3600 for a motor alone, i'm gonna assume that includes the harness and ecu and all the other goodies. If there is anyways you can cancel this order you should probally do that really quickly, i'm sure you could easily save $400 and have everything you need for the swap.

post back if you need more help.

Just a question about streetimports. I looked at there FAQ and it discribed there engines as long block assy with cut harness's. I just hope you made sure that you are getting an uncut harness for that price or that you are aware of that.

Yes I know about that but it doesnt matter because Im putting in a stand alone as soon as I get in contact with someone who has the fuel maps.

Going standalone!!! I was thinking the same thing. What system where you going to use? I was thinking Haltech or Motech. I just put a Motech M4 in my friends Saab and I must say it's a great system but it isn't as cheap as Haltech or Tech II. The nice thing about the Motech is you can set it up for just about all different types of crank/cam sensors so you dont' have to mount any extra ones on the engine.

I was thinking Haltech because I have experience with it, but Ive been giving the Motech system alot of looking over too. Im honestly not sure which one yet. I dont remember if the Motech comes with a knock sensor or not but I know the haltech doesnt. I like my knock sensors :D

A note on the Street Imports - they have a 180SX (blacktop S13) front clip for $2999.

Getting the front clip eliminates other problems, but I didn't look at their warranty information or anything else. Caveat emptor!
