So i technically dont own this car but while my other car is off being worked on (alot) i get to drive this thing around. So here it is 93 j30, with the green exterior and the peanut butter interior. Honestly don't know alot about this car, even though its been in the family for 15 years ( sinceit came off the dealership lot). today i just put new brakes on all 4 around it. Since its now getting up there in km's (317 xxx as of today) it is starting to need some work. So quick question, do all j30's have this headlight problem with the DTRL and high beams? when the DTRL are on only the passenger low beam is on instead of both driver and passenger. And when i flick my highbeams on only the Driver one goes on. Now i believe i could fix this by relaying the headlights but want to make sure about that before i spend 50 bucks on supplies to do this. Also how interchangable are parts between the maxima and j30? i really want to lower this thing a little bit (i.e i want coilovers and dump this thing lol). Just to let you guys know i am a euro guy and drive a 95 corrado vr6 which i slammed on coilovers and just rebuilt the engine in. Enough talk lets let the pictures do the talking now:

i had your exact issue with the DRL. i replaced it and it worked fine. but after that i had another almost similar issue.when in DRL i would get the passenger high beam only and on the driver side i would get really low power to both lights. the passenger low beam would not light up at all.and a buddy of mine figured it out.....on the problem was that passenger side low beam connector did not have an 0-ring in it so it was not sealing tight and the bulb pins were getting oxidized. so i used a pick to scrape off the pins in the harness and pull it closer a little so it made better contact as well.i didn't get a new harness plug but so far its working good but when the pressure is low and the weather is bad outside like rain, that one light acts up and i have to pop the hood and fiddle with it.this may not be related to your issue at all.but if you only have one light that is messing up, then its worth a consideration.

as for the replacement DRL unit, i paid $100 for it brand new. i also took apart the headlight relays and resoldered them before i replaced the DRL but that wasn't the issue.

No interchangable part with the maxima. There are no aftermarket drop-in suspension parts. Some have modified 200sx springs/struts to lower it.

My last 2 cars where VW's. I had a 95 GTI VR6 for just over 3 years. Sold it and got a 2000 Golf GLS 1.8 turbo with a 5 speed. Just recently sold it to be debt free. Both were great cars.

if you want to lower your j30, k4rr is a really good example of what it would like and not just that, the craftmanship put into it. this is the thread of his j30 when it was completed with 17x10'shttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/259048

wow... alot more involved than my corrado to lower it well it does need new shocks anyway, just might look into this stuff. thanks for the link. And yes i wish it looked like it did back in the picture from day one...

oh, forgot to mention that my j is the same color both in and out as yours. Trust me, you are not the only one that thinks that a green j30 lowered would look sick. be even better if it was on boost

lol i know what you mean, these cars are fast from the factory but with the tt i can imagine its retaded fast. i find it hard to believe that there is no aftermarket support for these cars as far as suspension. I will prob fab up a coilover system for it as it needs shocks (if you can't tell i love coilovers lol).

I would have to agree with you on the coilovers, its probably the best thing made for any car that can both use it and also benefit from it. If you can fab up a set for your car, make a write up on it especially on what parts you used to make it work. It would be a great thing if you make a set that works great and that can endure heavy amounts of abuse.
