hi all, this will be only my second post on here so don't hate on me too hard!

i am a complete noob when it comes to any z car much less the z31. I own a 2003 SRT-4, and do all my own work, so im pretty good with tools and repairs.

now, onto the car.. monday i bought a 1985 300zx Turbo 2+2 for $500!! the previous owner said it needed a new fuel pump, ive been looking around and it looks like the walbro 255 will work. first thing i checked was the fuses, and the one for the fuel pump was blown! so i replaced it, but still nothing. also, idk if its broken or not, but the dash(digi) doesn't show any fuel in the tank, and the gas light is on.... so i pulled up the back carpet today, and found this...

any help here guys?

some bonehead ripped the wires off the sender!? well thats a new one, as for getting fuel, you might want to take a look at the AFM if it's stuck or broken the fuel pump won't come on

and ther eis no 2+2 turbo's at least not in the states form the factory, look for a "C" as the 4th digit int he vin number, factory turbo cars had the "C" 4th digit

and NEON, turning regular people into mechanic's since 1995

lol, thanks for the reply man! BUT, ive worked on many other cars too, i just own a neon. im no master mechanic, but am still very handy

if i understand correctly, that sender simply send the fuel level to the dash display right? so it is something i can worry about after i get the car running correct?

idk about the whole 2+2 thing, thats just what it said in the craigslist ad.

also, AFM? auto fuel management ???

thanks again-Keegan

yeah the feul sender just sends the level to the gauge, has no effect on how the car runs

2+2 has a back seat, if the car has a backseat it's a 2+2, if no back seat it's nto a 2+2

afm= air flow meter, it's the bol that the air intake piping goes through right behind the core support

ok, i tried connecting the battery directly to the fuel pump and got nothing, so i guess im going to order a new pump. just to make sure i did it correctly, there are 3 wires running out of that blue harness going to the FP, two are side by side, one of which is black/white, the other solid black. the third wire sits below those two and is solid black too.

i connected power to the black/white and grounded the solid black. i did nothing to the third wire that sits below the other two...

was that correct?

pull the pump out of the tannk, only 2 wires go to it, those are the 2 to test
