New Guy...Need Windsheild Wiper Control

Hello! I just got a 1984 Datsun King Cab from my Dad, who had it sitting out back since my Great Grandfather passed some time ago. I drove it home yesterday, and was really impressed with the way it ran after sitting so long, with only a carb clean and an adjustment with the idle. It needs some tires and a new control knob off the steering collumn to turn the windshield wipers on and off, but other than that, it is a GREAT truck! I really like it already.

So, can anyone tell me where to go to get the steering collumn switch for the wipers? Can you just go to Oreillys and have them order one? Is there a better way to do it? Could you just open the steering collumn and wire a toggle or multi position switch to it?

i would assume any auto parts store could get you one... but if not you can always try the dealer... they WILL have one... but the price might be a little high

I ride my motorcycle most of the time in the summer, but was gonna drive the truck in the rain. Then, when I found out it had no operational wipers, it was kind of a bummer. But, I'll check Oreillys and the junk yard. One of those should pay off!

ah.. .but see... i don't need mine... its a track car and i have no wipers nor wiper motor... but i still have the steering column switch

Well, if you happen to get a wild hair and take that thing off, let me know. Maybe we can work something out!

Also, I found Car Parts Wholesale that seems to have a bit of stuff for the truck. No Wiper control though.

You need a wiper switch that attaches to the steering column? I might have one.

Try to call your local junkyards to see if they have any 720s. Be careful though, as some 720s don't have the same type of wiper module. The wiper module on my truck has intermittent wipers and I didn't realize that until I took the module from another truck and tried to put it on. Long story short, make sure they're the exact same thing. If your truck only has Off LO Hi get one that is exactly like that. If it does have a 3rd option then make sure its like that too.

I got a new combination switch from NAPA. You can't get just a headlight or wiper switch they are made together.
