Hey new to te z32 game need some help from you guys. I bought a non running 90 z32 na last year in plans to rebuild the motor. I took motor apart to in bare but the last part that i can't do is the crankshaft sprocket. I hear different things from drillin holes into the sprocket to cutting it off with a wheel, I'm looking for the best way to take this sprocket out. Another question I have is since I have the motor apart what deletions are there that I can do the the motor? I know about egr but any other ones that are worth doin? Since spring is coming and I slacked off all winter I want to get this up and running in the coming months. Thanks for your help.

Gear puller. I wouldn't dare go near my crankshaft with a grinder, drill, or hammer.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm in the same boat as you don't wanna do it with cutting either. Any specific one you know of that fits around the sprocket? Not a lot of space. Thanks

To remove the original I used an angle grinder to cut a wedge out of the sprocket to within about 1/8" of the crank nose and then hammered it with a (I am having a brain fart and cannot remember the proper name of the tool) solid pick thingamabober until it split and i was able to slide it right off. Then I cleaned the crank with some emery cloth and have had no issues with multiple rebuild since, it slides of with just a little persuasion.

Anton, I believe reamer is the term you're looking for. Also, that sounds terrifying to me. I just used a gear puller and a boatload of PB.

Mine was on the JDM engine, the engine that spent years in some JDM graveyard on that side of the pacific, then months on the salty seas. So PB blaster was not a viable option. Its really not that bad you just need a grinder or dremel with speed control. And reamer is not quiet what I was thinking of. It does sound a bit terrifying but it really isnt.
